BARBIEOLDNEWGREENREDO

Photos for the Grandmas

Always Ad-Free

Jacquie and Vanessa work on the mailing lists for the Salon in the dining room. Niece Kimmy yawns.

Jacquie: What are we going to give all the Grandma's for Mother's Day? Usually I give them all a free spa day...can't do that with social distancing and the salon closed.

Kimmy: (Yawns)

Vanny: I think the baby is ready for her nap. Mama, how about a family photo? We haven't had one for a long time, not since Kiara was a baby, and now she is six. The Grammas and Great Grams will love that.

Jacquie: Well, everyone is home, and Kimmy can go down for a nap. Tres just painted the wall in the basement, that would be a good place. Can you put the baby down and I will get Craig to find the camera stand.

An hour later: Jacquie, Kiara(6), Craig, Cassidy(14), Tres(17) and Vanessa(20) are trying to line up for a photo.

Jacquie: Stop that now, Kimmy will wake up with all that screeching!

Tres: Mama, I don't screech. Vanny does!

Vanny: Shush!

Tres: Stop that!

Cassidy: You two are always trouble!

Jacquie: We need to get closer, please. Kiara sit down nice in Daddy's lap.

Kiara: Tres poking Vanny, Mama.

Craig: Everyone stand still....click!

Cassidy: Can we hurry, I have a Zoom meeting with the girls at 2:00.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Jacquie: Vanny stop squirming.

Vanny: Tres needs to move away.

Tres: I'll sit in front and hold the other BRAT!

Craig: Let's just get this over with.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Cassidy: Go Cubs! That should make everyone smile.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Craig: That should be good enough.

Jacquie: Sure, it's the only present we can give your mom and my mama, Great Grams and it just has to be good enough. Now my hair came undone. Tres, get off the basement floor!

Vanny: I checked the photos, Mama. They are great and we are a beautiful family!

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

Jacquie: I hear Kimmy and I've had enuf! I'm going upstairs.

Cassidy: I'm outta here.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Craig: HOLD IT! Okay, gang. One more photo for your mother. And try to sit still and smile!

Kiara: For Mommy!

Cassidy: Oh, Dad, you're the best.

Craig: I have the best kids, most of the time, but that's your Mom's doing.

Jacquie stands on the stairs and listens...and gets a tear in her eye.

For all those families trying so hard out there...

Happy Mothers' Day!

    1. Thank you Lynn, it was fun to do. Yes, this year was different, I talked with each of my boys for over an hour on a real phone call, facetime...which was lovely. Hope you are doing well! Sandi

  2. Hi, Linda. I try to keep up with current conditions and weather. This has been a doozie though. Jacquie's salon was supposed to open the same day, Illnois shut down. I had been working on it for two months...so I just had to go with what was going on...! Thanks so much for stopping by. The characters are still developing, but I think we will see them sort of often. Thanks, again!Sandi

  4. Happy Monday. Love your cute story. You have the biggest Barbie doll collection. Hope you did not flood out up there. Down in Wheaton it was a lot of rain but not a lot of flooding. So happy my planted flowers made it through. Have a super sweet week.
    Hugs,
    Kris

    1. Thanks Kris, we had about 8-9", but were lucky no immediate flooding where we had to go. All our plants were okay, and the garden drained well, thank goodness. Yes, this is really trying, hope you have a great week! Sandi

  5. Hello! I'm a new reader to your blog. I found it via Linda a.k.a YéYé dolls, she has just made a list with her favourite blogs.
This was a lovely story. Isn't it hard to make children pose for photos? My nephews are masters on making the most hideous faces as soon as they see a camera. Luckily, it's seems it turned out well for them.

    Take care.

    1. Hi, Monster crafts, lol. Love the name, yes we had two boys and lots of cousins and we never got a photo for grandma that worked, lol. She was adamant that she have a nice picture with 9 grand children and I don't know how many great grands, lol. Welcome, and I will have to visit your blog! Some of the monsters are adorable...I'm sure! Thanks, Sandi

  6. The only problem with dolls is NO ONE BLINKED! I am always the one with my mouth open and my eyes closed! I love reading your stories. As a kid, my bestie and I played for hours--each with one Barbie doll!
