Part 5: Vickie's Vintage/Night at the Bijou

AD-FREE BLOG
In Vickie's Vintage...after nearly a month of strange happenings, (EL wouldn't even work in the 'Dungeon' alone anymore,) the costume shop has been dismantled.

It's after 6 pm downstairs in the 'dungeon', and the girls have finished packing up the left-over Halloween merchandise. But.....

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Lara (left): I'm glad you called me, Carly. THAT is not an incidental crack.

Carly: Vickie hasn't seen it yet and Nope, it's not.

Lara: I'm texting Russell, now.
(PLEASE COME TO VICKIE'S, NOW---HUGE CRACKS IN LOWER LEVEL!)

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Carly: Well, EL totally freaked. Then, she called Vickie...and frankly I have never seen anything like this.
And, I have four brothers...I know about cracks in walls.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Lara:  What happened?

Carly: We moved out the fixtures, and there it was!

(15 minutes Later, Russell Pittman, contractor,
 shows up)

barbieoldnewgreenredo

EL: Left....It was just, there...all crumbly and HUGE, hiding behind the Halloween Potions Cabinet.

Vickie: OMG...this IS awful.

Russell: Ahem..We have significant damage here...seems to go down to the footings. I'll need to get a crew here tonight to reinforce this wall! And we will have to have a City inspector here, soon.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Vickie: How long is that going to take? We have to open this part of the store before Thanksgiving!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Lara: I'm in touch with Ryan and he said we will have someone here from the Housing Department tomorrow morning.

EL: MORE pieces are falling!!! I have to take a shot of this!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Sonnie: They look so worried...
Ami: Why are they so upset?

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Sonnie: (Mournfully playing the sax)
Ami: I don't remember our wall being that crumbly. Are the cracks growing?

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Russell: In my 20 years on the job, I've never seen this before.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Vickie: I can see you are worried, are we in danger?

Russell: Well...yes,Vickie. We have to get everyone out of here. And, you have to close down the upstairs. We have no way of knowing if there are structural issues in the whole wall or in the entire building.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Ami: Structural issues sounds serious!

Sonnie: (Looking at the cracks) Could be for us, too.

Ami: Why?

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Vickie: Is this that serious?

Russell: Yes, we have to find the source of this issue, and why the wall is disintegrating. The cracks indicate an old doorway. If area was used during prohibition---there probably were tunnels. I will try and get the original plans to the building. And, we need to turn off all the electricity and gas---just in case anything else has been compromised.

Vickie: If you say so, I'll get the girls out of here.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Russell: Listen up Ladies. I'm going to bring in a crew tonight to reinforce this wall, I want you to remove any records or personal effects from the store and exit as quickly as possible.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Lara: I've contacted Mitch...and he's bringing over three guys, lumber, and plywood tonight. He wants to know if you want jacks, too.

Russell: No, that should be good. Let's go everyone, nothing more we can do here, now!

(All the lights are out!!!)

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Sonnie: I think it's time for us to go...

Ami: Just another song, please...it's so quiet now.
(soft saxophone playing)

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Sonnie: It could be our fault the wall is cracked...maybe we should have stayed where we were?

Ami: (looks around) But, the lights were wonderful, the people, colors, music, and you playing your horn...I've missed that.

Sonnie: My horn was right where I left it, behind the furnace wall in the old coal room.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Ami:We left so many things behind.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

(whoo--oo-oo, whistling....air-sucking.....)

Ami: I'm frightened, what's that sound?

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Sonnie: Our world is crumbling......we have to go now!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Ami: Hold me tighter.........

barbieoldnewgreenredo

(The humming turns to a growling sound)

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Ami: Why is it so loud?

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Sonnie: We're going through now.... (he pushes Ami forward)

Zinnnnngg-gg-gg-g, Grindd-dd-d......

CRunnnnnchchchchchchchch!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Sonnie: I will love you.....forever......

Ami: And, ever r r r rrrrrrrrrr!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

 Sizz-zzle....crack......crun-chh!)

barbieoldnewgreenredo

HOLD ME!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

I'LL NEVER LET YOU GO!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

I love you.....Amiiiiiiieeeeeeeeee

barbieoldnewgreenredo

CRACK! WHOO-OO-OOSH!

Ground shakes.........

BOOM!

Outside, TRISH JUMPS!

OMG, what was THAT?

Fabulous Gift for Dia De Los Muertos

AD-FREE BLOG

A Dear Doll-Group friend, Linda, gifted me a wonderful handmade outfit perfect for 'Day of the Dead' attire, an authentic ethnic costume from Texas.

Cristal was pleased to purchase the outfit from fictitious Vickie's Vintage to use for a 'familia' get together honoring her family's ancestors.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Here she poses with the packaging from the original 2007 National Barbie Doll Convention...titled Fiesta de la Familia! The outfit included an authentic wrap, maracas (they really shake), hat and a wonderful dress with so much detailing in the ruffles.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Cristal couldn't help but pose with some props...just as colorful as she is.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

The girls from Vickie's Vintage had to take some photos.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Cristal says 'Gracias'!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Now, home to make a feast and then to the cemetery to honor her family!

Special Thanks to Linda in Texas.....totally love this adorable and very authentic looking costume!
