Getting ready for Black Friday in Vickie's Vintage

Thanksgiving morning, Vickie, Zoe and Carly are putting the finishing touches on the newly remodeled Vickie's Vintage.

Vickie: Carly you did a fabulous job on designing the new mannequin. We will have to call her, Diva, I think.

Carly: Thanks, but Zoe did the shoes and the perfume counter.

Vickie: That's great, too. I'm so glad we could get all the perfumes and accessories in for Black Friday. I just hope all our customers show up----being closed. I hope we didn't lose them.

Zoe:I think all the handbills we handed out, should help. I just finished the new accessories cabinet...it's wonderful for all those items that tangle.

Carly:Love this mink stole, even if it isn't humane, at least it's being reused instead of a new one being made.

Vickie: I'm practicing my Vanna wrist...ta-da! This lovely pink dress will steal someone's heart, I'm sure.

...and I found some nightwear overstock, that will zip out of here at the low prices.

\
Vickie:Do you think when Vanna retires, I can take over her job???(Giggle)

Carly: Practice on the boots and purse/belt rack I set up----what a wide selection we have now.

Zoe:I think the shoe rack is cozier in the corner. Now there is actually more room to try on shoes.

Vickie:We seem to have a wide range of ballet or skater wear also.

Carly: I may have to buy that nightie for my Granny.

Vickie:I hope we have enough stock for this weekend. Well are we done?

Carly, Vickie, and Zoe are ready to serve you!

All: We can't forget Diva, too. Here's to Black Friday Shopping and Small Business Saturday!

Thanksgiving Goodness in the HFIM House!

Rory: Kevin, are the veggies almost done, everyone is sitting down.

Kevin:Just about, you can take this bowl in, I'll be right there.

Ryan: We are gathered here today, to give thanks and share our blessings. Thank you for the roof over our heads and the plumbing that is working now. Thank you for the food we are about to share and for our 'family and friends' we are sharing it with. Now, let's eat.

Aidan: Is this the kid's table?
Joe: I don't think so. Please pass the potatoes.
Vickie: I never would have thought we could get 26 for a sit down meal here. I kinda like it here in the livingroom with the fire going!

Sindy: Kevin, this was a great idea to grill the veggies, that corn looks scrumptious.

Kevin: That's nothing compared to this turkey and dressing. Dang, Sindy you are the best cook.

Sindy:All in a days work, I'm saving room for pie, though.

Barbie: Chelsea and I and everyone here at the HFIM house want to wish you all Happy Thanksgiving and thanks for viewing our celebration.

Patrick: Pie, where's the pie!

Thanksgiving Prep in the HFIM house

The HFIM house is a-bustle. With lousy weather forecasted for the holiday weekend, these Chicago millennials are either working or sticking close to what is now home in the HFIM house.
Anyway...they are ALL family ----sort of.

Only a few days away and the girl's are getting a heads up on the prep for Thanksgiving.

Barbie is using the new mixer for cornbread muffins, while Sindy gives her encouragement.

Plenty of butter and fresh corn for the muffins.

Chelsea is cutting apples for pies.

Rory asks, "What else do you need from the fridge besides cream and eggs?"

This is the last turkey dish, rolled turkey breast with stuffing inside. I just need the chilled veggies.

Doctor Ken:I'm getting ready to 'operate' on the grill. I'm in charge of roasting vegetables. What's that, Monnie.

Monnie: Just the vegetables and stock for gravy. It's chilled now to make stuffing.

Sindy: Thanks Monnie, I needed that, is Ken working on the veggies?

Monnie: He is firing up the grill right now.

Sindy:There the last turkey in the oven. We will be in great shape for Thursday, since everyone has to work the day before. You can never make too much ahead.

Raquel and Belle are folding napkins for the table. If everyone is here on Thursday we will be over 20? We will have to eat in shifts.

Elsa: The centerpiece is lovely, Mulan. You did a great job using everything we already had from the yard. In Sweden we use wheat, cranberries and apples for seasonal decorations, and candles, lots of candles.

Mulan: We do too, in Northern China...the table needs to be straightened. We will have to wait for the party on Thursday. Meanwhile we will have to all eat in the kitchen.

(NOISE from the living room---another fumble or bad call?)

Nemo:NOT FAIR! Bad call ref, bad call!

Aidan: HORRIBLE CALL, it was in!

What a game....I smell food...

That's it for today---anyone up for Pizza?

(to be continued for Thanksgiving)

What's a Diva to do?

A miserable Saturday morning in Chicagoland

This weather definitely requires some wine?

Snow on the way, more wine, anyone?

What's a girl to do, but relax.

Maybe a movie on Netflix? or Outlander ...sigh, it's starting to snow. (11/18/17 9:30 am)

Vickie's Haunted Vintage:Part 8 Finale

We left our hero, Joe interrogating Gino---who was found on camera leaving threats in Vickie's trashed shop. Gino confesses and implicates the Russian mob, which forced him to do the dirty deeds.
But, Vickie has been served eviction papers, the lights and heat are off for over half the block and Vickie's Vintage is closed, and her apartment is cold.

barbieoldnewgreenredo.blogspot.com

Darkness is perpetual on Vickie's Street for over a week. Detective Joe is no where to be found.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Then huddled in their still cold apartment, the girl's see squad cars pull up and down the street, lights blazing. Arrests are made. LOTS of arrests are made, the papers and TV are full of stories of conspiracy, the Russian mob, bogus real estate deals and kick-backs.

Three days later,

Joe: I thought I would stop by, I saw your lights were finally on. I've been kinda busy, but your place looks great! Thanks for hanging on to my vest.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Vickie:You sure have been busy, Joe. According to the paper, your unnamed task force brought down the Russian mob. Why did they want to acquire properties all over the north side? What were they planning to do with them?

Joe:Well, I could tell you that information,Vickie. But, then I would have to lock you up in solitary confinement until the trials. We wouldn't want that.

Most important, when did you get back in the shop, and well these walls look fantastic.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Vickie: The day after the  arrests, a courier came and gave me the papers for a new lease, paid up until April, and free utilities until then. Apparently, the BMR Corporation purchased all the eviction properties, and wrote us all new leases. Later that day, the management company came and made inspections and the next day repairmen were here.

You know, Joe, I was worried about you! You didn't call, nothing?

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Joe:I'm sorry Vickie, I was busy with all the paperwork, and the evidence trail kept going further and further away and the case bigger and bigger. And, I had to relocate an informer. I'm not used to anyone needing to know where I am, besides my cat.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Vickie: So, I don't rank even with your cat?
Joe: Um, of course you do...you are dead even. (He smirks)

barbieoldnewgreenredo
Zoe: Why don't you two go eat, or something---we can handle the rest of this for tonight. PLEASE!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Joe:I guess you do smell better than my cat? Um, Miss Vickie, now that you are no longer part of my investigation, I suppose we could maybe---date?

Vickie:I expect it, Detective. Give me your gun, and I will make sure you don't disappear again.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Vickie: Zoe and Carly, please see if you can get the rest of this sorted. The movers will be here tomorrow with the main fixtures and the rest of the stock. Give me a call when you are done and I will come and lock-up.

Zoe and Carly: Goodnight you two! Thanks Detective Joe!

Upstairs at Vickie's place.

Vickie: Well, Detective, I suppose I should forgive you since you were making us all safe and arresting the bad guys. (She leans backward and hits the light switch)

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Detective Joe:I thought you said the lights were fixed.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Vickie:Since you are free to date me, now, Officer, then lights should be optional. Are your handcuffs available, so you don't disappear again?

(Click---Click----Detective Joe cuffs Vickie to his wrist)

Detective Joe:You, have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can be used against you in a court of law....

Now, I will continue, unless I get a proper kiss, or I will have to take you in.

Vickie:By all means officer, take me..., anywhere, but take me!

~~Never THE END~~

Vickie's Vintage will reopen on Friday, November 25th.
