BARBIEOLDNEWGREENREDO

Photo Shoot:Christmas in the Snow

My 1959 Barbie in a red velvet White Christmas Cape and gown.

My goal was to capture a picture for a Christmas Card.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

My first efforts with flash, ugh!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Washed out because of flash, Again, too harsh!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Even doctored in edit, still not right!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

I threw a set of frosted lights in front of my scene.....and retook my pictures without the flash.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Suddenly the lighting was perfect without the flash.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

An evening in the snow...mysteriously enchanting.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

It was hard to choose.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Barbie: Maybe a closeup----Yes.....this is it!!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

This was brightened for printing!

I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas...
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!

Backdrop is a matte silver wrapping paper with branches and berries.
Trees are Lemax with my own battery lights,
Branch trees are from Michaels, frosted stems, separated and potted, with
battery lights.

Making Cookies at the HFIM house!

In the kitchen of the HFIM house, Barbie and Monnie finish the window decorations.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Barbie: Monnie, this wreath is adorable, perfect for the kitchen. It even smells like gingerbread.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Barbie: Now that we have these wreaths done, we need to get started on the baking.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Monnie: Well, Sindy is so busy with work and school, she left us her recipes. We should be able to do this?

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Barbie: I'd cream this butter, if is knew where to turn this thing on?

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Monnie: Come-on, it can't be that bad? Let's make two batches of dough, okay?

Barbie: Sure anything you say!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Monnie: This dough is really rich and sticky, more flour on the table please.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Barbie: Here, I will scoop them up, you roll and cut them out!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Barbie: How many do we have to make?

Monnie: Well, the boys eat them like popcorn, so I imagine a LOT!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

The wax paper helps the (Sculpey) dough not stick to the table.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Here is the human Grand (age 5) making sure the girls are doing it right. She is a master cookie baker.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Anna: I can help now that Monnie is on oven duty. We make many cookies in Sweden for Jul!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Monnie; Twelve minutes and this first batch should be done. How many more to go?

Barbie and Anna: LOTS AND LOTS! And, then we decorate them.

Anna: We must make gingerbread cookies, too.

HFIM HOUSE: The Boys are Decorating!

The boys in the HFIM house are decorating, or are they?
*HFIM*Homefor Impoverished Millenials*

Ryan:Why aren't those lights working up there Aidan?

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Stephan trying to fix decor:Mostly cause nothing here works very well, Ryan. What do you expect, we are working with Antique stuff...or vintage, whatever.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Aidan:I think I got it now...just throw the switch again.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Foofy, get out of the decorations!

Stephan:Ryan, get your dog out of the ornaments he is drooling all over them.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Ryan:Foofy, get out of there. Aidan, since you got the garland lights working let's do this tree, quick. The game is starting. You spin the tree around and we will get these lights on in a jiffy and watch the game.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Aidan: This is working great! (Zip---spin---Zip---spin)  DONE!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

There, the Design Mistresses should be happy with that---and a little vignette underneath there.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Ryan: I think it looks great now lets get the game on.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Ryan:Foofy get out of there.....someone give the dog a treat, please.

Stephan: I'm too busy trying to get this snowman to work, it's supposed to light up and move.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Stephan:anyone for Ice Cones??? hahaha, I'll fix this little bugger, no matter what.

(As dusk settles and the boys watch the game, more house members show up to critique.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Anna: Oh, I love the lights, we always have lots of lights at home, for winter is so long.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Ryan: Just don't jiggle the table, we are watching the game. Go Bears!

Richelle: Aidan that is really sweet right there, but are there lights that work on that tree?

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Aidan: I couldn't find the plug on that string.

Richelle:Sweetie, those are fake bulbs for decoration like regular Christmas bulbs.

Aidan:Okay, I will find a string, I think I have some red ones left.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Chelsea:This tree will look great with red lights and a place to put my letter to Santa.

Stephan: Well, I have to go---Richelle come keep Ryan warm....LOL.
barbieoldnewgreenredo

Richelle: So, you boys didn't quite finish. We need to get this decorating outside done. Bad weather is coming to Chicago on Tuesday.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Ryan: There isn't that much left, just to hang the wreaths and get the final lights done. Have I told you lately---Richelle, you light up my life everyday.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Richelle: Um, that's a lovely thing to say...Ryan...I'm speechless.

Ryan:Good, then I will ask you this, too, while I have you enamored under these lights.
I Love you, Richelle, will you marry this impoverished millennial and live happily ever after?

(To be continued...)

Christmas is Coming

The Elves are fast at work for the Barbie Houses and Vickie's Vintage.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Easily half of my stashes come from thrift shop goody bags,
or thrift sales.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Lots of stuff here ---with a vintage vibe to REDO.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

I worked almost 15 years for big box craft stores,
so I have super sale stashes from them. I also picked some
things up cheap at the local flea/antique market in November.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

What will the elves come up with????

barbieoldnewgreenredo

First thing is a KEN tree---with sports ornaments. I think I have
some Chicago Bears fabric for a skirt.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

And Red lights----see you later, the elves are tugging at my sleeve to
finish the rest.

Black Friday Week in Vickie's Vintage and a surprise guest.

Vickie's Is super busy, and...a special customer shows up.

BMRobers: Really, Vickie, I love what you have done with the shop. It looks fabulous. My niece, Lara, has kept me up to date on all your efforts and the recent Skeleton Ball. And, she is my property manager for BMR Corporation here in Chicago. I hope your new lease is satisfactory.

Vickie: Oh my, you are my new landlord. Everything has been fabulous, the heat and electrical have all been repaired. Thank you so much.

.

Lara:I'm glad to hear that Vickie. Your business, picked right back up despite the close down and all the problems. That coat is gorgeous, I hope I can borrow it, Auntie B.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Vickie: It sure did, this weekend has been crazy, This is the coat I set aside for you as you had requested, Ms.Roberts. It's an original and in great condition.

BarbieMR:I will just have to try it on...oh it is perfect! Thank you Vickie for thinking of me, and setting it aside. It really fits well, and the perfect length. So many fashions are too short for me nowadays.

Vickie:How about this little red cocktail dress that just
came in. I haven't even had time to press it.

Barbie:Oh, that would be perfect for the holidays. I will take that, too.

Vickie: Well, let me just get these wrapped up for you. We appreciate your business and being a great landlord.

Zoe:That was a huge sale you made Vickie. Who was that with Lara?

Barbie: What a day, that was our new landlord, Barbara of BMR Corporation and Lara is her niece and the property manager.
What a day, and still more customers are pouring in the doors.

Zoe: Thank you so much Monnie, here is your receipt.

Monnie: The shop is so crowded, I didn't think it could be busier than during Halloween.

Zoe: It's been crazy----have a great day!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Monnie: I sure will, I will be back after payday!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Sindy and Raquel are busy hunting through the merchandise.

Raquel:I just have to have these pink boots---!

Sindy: Great selections in everything. I was afraid Vickie's wouldn't reopen after that mystery and the close down.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Lara: I love this swim suit, such a new take on a classic. I can't wait for my vacation after Christmas.

Zoe: Yes, we got a whole line of samples from a designer here in Chicago...they are fabulous with their vintage vibe.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Lara: Vickie, be sure to call the office if you have any issues. We want to promote this block to improve the entire neighborhood.

Vickie:Thank you both----and we sure will. Hope to see you soon.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Barbara M R:Happy Holidays, Vickie. And I will be sure to drop in, when I'm in town again.

Vickie:Thanks Ms.R, we are so lucky to have such good customers and landlady...thank you again for helping us to open for this weekend.

Meanwhile in the back of the store....

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Barbie: I think I might have to have that pink dress, it is so adorable. One can't have too many pink dresses?

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Barbie: Was that THE Barbie, checking out before me....?

Vickie: That was my landlady and yes, THE Barbie...the one we all want to grow up to be.

Barbie: Wow!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Sindy: Was that who I think it was?

Vickie: Yes, great selection, Sindy. Thanks for shopping at Vickie's Vintage.

Sindy: Great clothes Vickie and celebrities, too!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Vickie, Zoe, and Carly all say,
WHAT A DAY!
And it's not even DECEMBER...yet.
