BARBIEOLDNEWGREENREDO

My Girls with Short Hairdos and Hair Cuts.

 Ad-Free Blog

Ever stare at a bin of discarded Barbies in a thrift store and cringe at all THAT mangled LONG HAIR?

It's no wonder there are BILLIONS of Mattel
Doll combs existing to bury the planet ten times over.

So I dug in my photos to share my dolls with short hair. There are more now on the market than the 80-90's when Every Doll had butt length hair and sometimes-almost always too much hair.

When Eleanor was combed out it was quite long, but she qualifies in this photo.

The photos below are Colette/Callie who started as a Jazz Baby with 3 additional wigs. I seldom use the wigs, as she has this strong personality without them. You judge...Colette in some of her views.

She has a red bob and a sultry long black wig also, all very 1920's. I sort of like the red bob, can't find it right now, though.

Her friend and co-hort is Emilie, also styled for the 1920's and is gorgeous. Emilie's hair is thick and bobbed, all I did was give it a vigorous brushing!

Too cute in just about everything I put on her.

Sandi or (the Grandmother doll) is supposed to be a mini-me...but she is a bit too serene and put together to be me. LOL I did trim her hair and gave her gray some blonde streaks with a permanent marker. This really brightened up her look.

Even in a background photos she steals the scene.

Monnie is named after an old friend from college, and I gave her a haircut to indicate her as an older doll, she has gray chalk streaks in her hair...which just adds to her character.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Pinky is one of those dolls whose hair Long-frizzed and was just everywhere...a chin length bob, helps. Someone had texturized her hair in frizzles.

I re-bodied this girl later than this photo, she's adorable and was found by my son in a batch of dolls for $1.00 each. I only trimmed strays from her.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Yara is borderline short hair however because of the volume of it...she needs lots of room to walk around in my dioramas.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

This girl was a thrift store find...and needs to be re-bodied, she is so pale though, I will have to wait to find a match. I'm afraid to comb her hair and find what's hidden in that top curl...lol.

EL(left) is adorable anywhere, and Lanise got a heavy trim into layers,  her long thick hair had been trashed. She has a unique face.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Vanessa or Vanny came like this...she's so cute as a student, when she advanced to a graduation and a job, she got a topknot...I will try some other styles with her
THICK natural hair.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Casey is a nurse so her layered bob which works better than her mass of curly long 90's hair to her waist.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Camille is cute with a angled bob instead of the long thick black straight hair that overwhelmed her smaller body.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Linda had a short storyline...her hair had been altered by a three year-old with sparkle paint and a scissors. I picked her up for her body and cut all the hair off wondering if I could save that pretty face.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

She's named for a family member with cancer and I did a post on her having her hair cut off. She tried the wig and it really wasn't her. She decided to embrace her hair and added some bright lips to finish it off.

Now, Linda keeps her hair this short and teaches wellness classes for survivors...I really love her spirit her look and her hair.

Looking at these girls makes me want to take a scissors to a few more!

What do you Think
about cutting doll hair?
