Chelsea: This is GREAT! I love making snow angels.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Just you and me Foofie!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Ken: Well, you two could help here, the door is even stuck!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Chelsea: Foofie won't get off my chest, maybe she doesn't like the snow on her paws.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Scooter: Hey, does anyone want to have a snowball fight!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Skipper: This is too much fun....

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Skipper: ....Wheeee, it's slippery and cold. Let's go by the fire pit and add some wood.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Chelsea: This is great, how did you get over here, Scooter.

Scooter: We dug a tunnel through the back, well almost a tunnel. The snow piles are almost as tall as me. The front is impossible, all the snow from the street is on the sidewalks.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Scooter: We don't have this much room in our backyard, just room for the cars.

Chelsea: My toes are getting warm, how about toasting some marshmallows?

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Chelsea: Ken, you want to roast marshmallows with us?

Ken: Not right now, I have to dig out the back to the kitchen door.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Chelsea: Foofie, NO!

Foofie: (I'll just wait, until they aren't looking....NUM!)

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Ken: You girls be careful, I'm right around the corner and don't make that fire too big.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Skipper: We won't, these are so good. We should go inside for hot chocolates.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Chelsea: We still have some more marshmallows.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Skipper: Here Foofie, you can have mine...I'm done!

Foofie: (Nummmmy, patience pays in the end..)

Trish's in Winter!

Trish: Today we were finally able to get clear paths to the greenhouse. I think I've used two bags of salt already.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

I have to check and make sure everything is OKAY inside.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

The sun is actually shining, but it is still only 10 degrees and with a WIND CHILL, I don't want to know. It is the Windy City after all.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Inside: Wow! It is warmer in here with the sunshine, almost blinding.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Cacti are semi hardy, thank goodness, and my little succulents are trying to bloom.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

We've been keeping branches for budding and hardy plants out here with lots of supplies and new decorative pieces coming in for Spring.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

These new gnomes will be fun in the garden center.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Everything seems to be fine...

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Our new door and heater here in the greenhouse has done it's job. We will have to get some seedlings started in February.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Cam: I hope we don't get a lot more snow, there's no place to put it.
Trish: If it gets worse, my brother will bring in a mini plow, a dump truck and pull it all out of here, if this frozen stuff gets softer.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Inside the shop, the gals check all the plants and flowers. Luckily, the power didn't go out in the storms.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Trish: The shop is in between seasons right now. Too early for Valentine's Day...so we are accenting with naturals right now.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

A bit of color in the coolers and the floral selections, perfect for freshening up your decor. Homes feel so empty after the holidays.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

On the counter is Lucky Bamboo and a nice change this time of year, and grows in any light!

Cam: I'll water everything, Trish!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Cam: Do we have many orders to fill?

Trish: I'll have to double check the online orders, I hope we have what we need.
There's the phone now!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Nine hours later, dusk settles and the gals are outside after locking up.

Cam: Well we had two customers today?  Is that normal?

Trish: No, but it's so cold, but supposed to be warmer tomorrow. Thanks for all your help, we'll be ready for Valentine's Day with you prepping all those containers.

We do have a wedding next week, so that will keep us busy. Twenty eight tables if I remember right. I'm ordering everything tomorrow. Let's get out of the cold and I'll treat for Chinese, if you want!

Cam: Sure Trish! I'm freezing and Kung Pow Chicken sounds nice and warm.

Being Snowed OUT and IN!

2024 Snow, SNOw, SNOW!  (All New Photos)

The entire Chicagoland area is covered with snow. The dolls are all stuck at home, well almost everyone.

Trish and her assistant, Cam, are out trying to salt. But, they have given up as the plows haven't come by yet, nor their maintenance service. Trish's Garden Center is closed like everything else!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Camillia (Cam): I had no idea there was this much snow, seems it all swirled and landed right here in the Garden Center.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Trish: Yep, I think salting is futile until  the maintenance crew gets here. We surely can't open. Long as we are here, let's slog to the back and clean the coolers and the workshop, okay? Maybe start on inventory---it will be great to not be interrupted.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Cam: Sure Trish, I really don't want to walk back to the apartment anyway. You have me as long as you want since all my classes are cancelled.

Down the street....

barbieoldnewgreenredo

...at Barbie and Ken's, it's so peaceful with all the snow.
The backyard is buried in pristine white.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

The kitchen is all clean, even the refrigerator.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

The table was busy for the holidays. Grampa and Grandma White have left for Florida and the Christmas decorations have all been put away until next year.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

The living room is peaceful,

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Upstairs, Chelsea plays with Foofie. and enjoys her day off from school.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Chelsea: I bet you want to go outside, Foofie?

Foofie: UH-uh! (Shaking, NO!)

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Dr. Ken just finished a 36 hour shift at the hospital. So many accidents and injuries in the ER with the snowstorm.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Barbie isn't working at her desk....

barbieoldnewgreenredo

She's curled up with her favorite book online, and Ken's pup, Hairy, is sound asleep at her side.
This is a  Perfect winter day off!

Down the street at Rob and Chris's it's a warm cozy home in the remodeled Victorian.
barbieoldnewgreenredo

Chris: So you will have all day off with the storm, what do you want to do tomorrow that doesn't involve driving?

Rob: I'm glad this storm happened on a weekend, we have three days to dig out!

Scooter: I'll help, I want to sledding if we can in the park.

Skipper: Me too!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Skipper: Where's Fat Cat?...we are eating and he isn't here begging for food.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Chris: I caught him digging in the garbage in the bathroom and scolded him. I'm sure he is sulking somewhere.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Fat Cat: (I never sulk, I get even---that report looks tasty in the printer????)

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Skipper: I want to go sledding in the park tomorrow, too. Maybe make some snow angels.

Rob: How about a snowball fight?

Chris: Sure, girls against YOU!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Chris: I really just want to watch movies!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Fat Cat:( I wonder if the girls left any snacks in their room....I'll go look!)
barbieoldnewgreenredo

(Now where would they have snacks?)

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Rob: Well if it keeps snowing, we will get to do everything you want. That snow is really piling up against the glass windows though...Hmmmmmmmm?

(To be continued)

How's the White Stuff in your neck of the woods?
We got 10-12" out in suburban Chicagoland!
