Last Christmas? What's going on at the HFIM House...

 Ad-Free Blog

Time just flies by---and soon the HFIM house may change hands. Let's see what's up with all the residents, fifteen are home now on Saturday night...

barbieoldnewgreenredo

The house is a hummmm of activity..

(Piano playing, "Oh, Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree..."

barbieoldnewgreenredo

....the stockings were hung by the chimney with care...

barbieoldnewgreenredo

...trying to take a nap is like drowning in dog hair...lol.
barbieoldnewgreenredo

Richelle's on the phone:

But, we, no BMR Ltd, needs that shipment by January 7. Yes, guaranteed, whatever it takes, it must be here!

(mumble, mumble)

Yes, this is BMR Ltd. Thank-you. Please send the confirmation of the shipping by Monday.

(mumble, mumble)

Of course our office is open...yes, I know it's Christmas this week. That's why I'm giving you a heads up two-and-half weeks in advance! Have a Happy Holiday, and thank you. (Hangs UP)

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Richelle: Does everyone think deadlines are suggestions???

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Ryan: WELL, not everyone is as efficient as you are, Dear.

Richelle: Well the plumbing fixtures have to be here for the plumbers to finish, before the drywall goes in...and let's not forget about the electricians...getting this condo ready for Ms. Roberts will be the death of me. I'm still waiting on the wallpaper, and the tile is backordered.

Ryan: Well, if you are done now, can you take some time to read me some of these numbers. I'll enter them into the system. I'm still stuck back in 2019, and we promised to have the investment totals ready for everyone before Christmas.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Richelle: Sure Sweetie. The sooner they are done the sooner we can put a bid on that last house we looked at!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Sindy: Do we still have enough pastry flour for this week.

Jamie: Yep, but we need some pecans, and I'm almost out of Cinnamon

Sindy: Really???

barbieodlnewgreenredo

Jamie: We got an order for 12 dozen cinnamon rolls for Friday morning the 24th on top of all our other orders.

Sindy: Yikes, when did that happen?

Jamie: Last order that came in online before I left.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Sindy: Okay, two boxes of cinnamon. What about eggs? (and they list goes on, as the bakery order gets made!)

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Chelsea continues to practice for the school concert. She accompanies the girl's freshmen chorus. (Chestnuts roasting by an open fire....Jack Frost nipping at your nose....)

barbieoldnewgreenredo

(Dashing through the snow....on one horse open sleigh....)

barbieoldnewgreenredo

(Oe'r the fields we go, laughing all the way, ha, ha, ha!)

barbieoldnewgreenredo

(Upstairs)
Belle: (Humming to the piano music) Mulan, did you have Christmas music in Taiwan?

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Mulan: Yes, we had holiday music at the mission school, mostly for the smaller children.  "What child is this...," Which reminds me of my mother playing the violin. Normally I travel home during school break this time of year, but the pandemic changes everything.

Belle: We always sang in the chorus at church and in school. Concerts were a part of the holidays. I think this kitty is purring, Jingle Bells with Chelsea's playing.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

(Purrr, prr prr, Pirrr prr prr.)

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Even the laundry room is busy.
Rory: Yes, mom. We will be home on the 24th. Yes, Nemo will drive slow if the weather is bad. No, we don't have even a bit of snow here.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Rory: I can't wait to be home for Christmas, too.

barbieodlnewgreenredo

Rory: No, I don't have ANY news....yet!  Bye now, we will see you in a week!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

They guys are upstairs and watching the television. Football is forever...apparently!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Oh, man....another fumble....dang that's four!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Commercials.....commercials...commercials.

(No deep discussions about Christmas going on here)...lol.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Midge: How long has it been since you went home to Willows, Wisconsin?

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Barbie: Five years now, since my Mom passed. Chelsea has basically grown up here.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Barbie: I remember Chelsea's first year here, she was eight and decorating everything and adjusting to living with all adults in a construction zone.
barbieoldnewgreenredo

...and we were constantly baking cookies. The guys loved that.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

How about you and Allen, when was he last home?

Midge: Like  nine years, his parents are in Florida, so he didn't think it was worth going to Wisconsin.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Barbie: Well, it sure will be like old times with Ken and I,  you and Allen all going home together. I can't remember when we were last all together in Wisconsin. Chris and Rob are taking the twins home, too. It will be a big gathering of the Roberts clan. Chelsea is really excited. Aunt Barbara is going to be there, also.

Chelsea's piano: (I'll be home for Christmas..., you can count on me...)

Midge: Oh, I love this one. That's the song that Callie sang at the tree lighting last year. Goodness, Chelsea is really good on that piano...!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Midge looking out the window: I can't get used to the cement wall out in the yard, though. It blocks the sun in the morning.

Barbie: I know ---who builds a four-story contemporary of concrete and glass monstrosity in this neighborhood?

Midge: Upside, I heard it was $1.7 million---which increases everyone's property here, even if it is out of place.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Midge: Even though there are no windows on this side...no more nude sunbathing...LOL.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Barbie: Like we ever did before. How about those big ball decorations on the fountain across the street. Kind of ugly too. I would have rather had the large lit tree there again.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Midge: Maybe it is time to move on? What are your plans, anything finalized?

Barbie: No, Chelsea and I will stay in the house until the bitter end. Someone has to keep an eye on everything.  Aunt Barbara wants us to move in with her. I don't know though, the GrandView is adults only, and Chelsea won't be sixteen for almost two years.

Besides, so many are leaving, we may have this place almost to ourselves.

Midge: Who is leaving for sure?

Barbie: Nemo and Rory, Richelle and Ryan, eventually. I think Jamie is staying, for now. Sindy will take Lara's condo when Lara's next project gets going. Mulan is looking for a shop with an apartment. Belle, I'm not sure. Stuart and Ian are looking for a place. If the bar is ever finished, Patrick will have a room there.

If they do construction on the third floor here, it will take lots of time, before we have to decide.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Midge: Well, right now we have to figure out how we are going to get everyone into the van to go to Wisconsin, and luggage. I hope there is some snow...it's so dreary here.

Barbie: No, first we have to figure out how many are here for Christmas Eve...I think I'll count.... how many?  And are we doing presents or not??? Lots to decide, maybe I can get a count by tomorrow. I have to order food Monday.

Midge: What should we have for dinner...for sure we need some Hot Buttered Rums! I haven't had one of those for years. Hmmm, I can mix that up today---and it will keep.

Chelsea slowly begins...(Where are you Christmas? Why can't I find you)...

Are any of your dolls going home for the Holidays?

Vickie and Joe's Christmas Tree

Ad-Free Blog

Vickie and Joe take the evening off to decorate their new Christmas Tree.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

But, first...

barbieoldnewgreenredo

But first they need sustenance. Well, Cat does!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Joe: Hey, Cat...cease and desist...it's not like you are starving! You've lost your slim figure!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Vickie: She just want's attention, like we all do.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Joe: Well, here's to you, who deserves all my attention.

Vickie: We have to get our tree up---if you keep talking like that, we won't?

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Vickie: I'll start by adjusting all the branches. How does it look now.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Joe: A little to your left, now do the lower branches...(hee-hee)

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Vickie: You stinker, finish up Lieutenant and report for duty.

vvvv

Joe: Ready, Ma'm, where should I start!

Vickie: No kisses until we are done.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

An hour later....

Joe: I'll just hold on to you here, and then you can reach that last ornament! You sure smell good.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Vickie: You are such a bad boy---Santa will leave coal in your stocking!!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Joe: This is the best part, now we need to test the rest of the lights with this remote.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Vickie: Awwww, it's so pretty. I'm glad we went with the white tree.

Joe: I'm glad you are with me.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Joe: Cat!....Stay out of the tree.

Vickie: Owwww, she's getting heavy. No more treats.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

CAT: (No more treats......Meeeoooowwwww, no more Christmas ornaments....purrrr.....)

Joe: Do you think she likes the tree?

Getting a Tree at Trish's Blue Sprinkling Can Tree Lot

 Ad-Free Blog

In Northside Chicago, nestled outside of Vickie's, Trish is just about to close up the garden center. The time is 8pm and the crowd has finally dwindled.

Trish :(yells to her brother) Kurt can you get the lights in the greenhouse .please.

Kurt: Yea, sure if I can find them all!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

It's been a very busy three weeks since the 'Tree Farm' opened.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Trish: Wow, after this weekend we won't have much left. I hope Dad brings more trees tonight.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Kurt: Trish, where are the lights for the trees in here???

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Kurt mumbling: There's a cord, okay off.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Kurt: One down now for the other side.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Kurt: We need more garden tools for the weekend. Got the last light.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Outside Kurt checks the shelves and makes a list.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Kurt: Trish we could use some more garland, I'll put that on the list.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Ms. Roberts is standing outside the partially closed garden center after leaving Vickie's.

BMR: Oh, I love this wreath. This will be the perfect gift for Madeline. She's been so nice to let me stay with her until my condo is ready. Young man, may I please purchase this wreath.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Trish: I'm sorry I didn't see you Ms. Roberts. Of course you can have this wreath.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

BMR: May I have it delivered?

Trish: Certainly! I just write down your info and we will deliver first thing in the morning.

BMR: Perfect! Goodnight, there's my driver!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Joe: So, is this the one you want, Vick? It's pretty tall?

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Vickie: Well, I think so---? This is the one I asked Trish to hold all day.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Trish: Hi, Vickie. I could have sold this tree 10 times today....I think we have two more at the farm.

Vickie: Well, thanks for saving it, maybe we should have it delivered?

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Joe: Nah, I can carry it, if you take the stand.

Trish: Well, happy decorating, and if you need more decorations --we still have some.

Vicky: I think we are okay----I'm going minimalist this year, lol, besides CAT likes anything sparkly.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Joe: Thanks, Trish.  Closeup tight, glad you have Kurt with you when it is this late.

Trish: Yes, I can't be alone here anymore---it's too busy, but just this weekend left and we will be sold out. Good night and thanks!!

Vickie: See you tomorrow!!!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

With the gates closed and all the trees and decor locked in, it's just a matter of time before the lights go down.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Trish: Boy, I'm Christmas-ed out---only a few more days!!! Now for the lights out here!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Kurt: Did you get everything turned off?

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Kurt: I think so, say I'm starving.

Trish: Me too, I'm looking forward to having supper before 9pm.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Trish: Here comes Dad. He has a few trees, we can just get them unloaded we will be fine for tomorrow.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Happy Holidays from Trish's Blue Sprinkling Can and Tree Farm!
