Subject: Find your Passion and your Peeps!

Golly, I'm officially a doll collector (I have doll blog, joined a CLUB, belong to a FB group, and have a vast city of dolls and paraphernalia growing in my Craft Room), so I guess I am!

MY Latest Mess: The pumpkin farm diorama, how-to coming up next week.

But, today's NEWS:

As of last night, I'm officially a member of Windy City (Barbie Doll) Collectors CLUB. And, what a great group it is. Here is their website Windy City BD Collectors

If you love Barbie dolls and are located anywhere in the NW Indiana, SE Wisconsin or NE Illinois---once a month meetings are easily accessible from the Toll roads, in Northlake, IL.

For those who just want to participate from afar, a free FaceBook group page is FACE BOOK HERE.

I took a few photos of the September and October meetings. Each month there is a theme for the night. Tables are set up for the theme, and members bring dolls and such---according to the theme. Sometimes there are workshops---and of course business meetings, (kept short).

The theme for the September meeting was Wedding Boutique. These four dolls were generously donated for raffles. Raffle proceeds help keep membership fees low.

Since the club concentrates on Barbie and her friends---we have a wide range of collectors. Many are very creative. Here is a vintage Midge in a handmade creation which is quite beautiful.

Vignettes are set up also.

I loved this Wedding floral shop-set up---with handmade floral designs. The workers were very busy.

There was even a delivery guy on a scooter.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Actual mini Florals for sale---I purchased Vickie's Roses and corsage at the meeting---and they were perfect!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Handmade Tuxedo shirts---which were so well done---! Loved the couple shopping, too.

A vintage Barbie shop complete with tea and cakes for the shoppers. There was so much more---it was really an amazing meeting.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

The meeting for October was a Halloween Fashion Show.
Here are some handmade creations made by a member for special order.
They are really gorgeous.

A fashion runway was set up and a backstage area, as well as a audience area. My photo smeared...and I didn't get another one.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

There were prizes in seven categories. My backstage "Eek" couple---took a prize.. There are actually  a 1980's Barbie and Ken under there.
Those Kitty bags are prizes filled with fun Halloween items.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Many of the fashions and accessories were handmade or adapted from other outfits.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

There were more witches than anything---I brought 4 myself.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

I brought these, Ragnar and Lagertha from the Vikings series. Their costumes are handmade. Ragnar's tunic is an OLAF Disney shirt with handmade leggings and his boots are from a Star Wars doll.

These almost Steampunk twin witches were fun.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

This doll took most elegant---she was very striking, the gown was sumptuous. In the background next to the arch of lights, is the fashion show director---with her clipboard, looking harried. SO many models to control.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

And I'm sure this gal was runner-up for most elegant, so much creativity.

My Pumpkin Girl took a prize, I took these photos at home. She was really located in the Witch pack on the runway.

I'm not sure which category.
Everyone voted on all 7 categories.
This took awhile with lots of discussion. IT WAS HARD!
I think there may have been close to 75 dolls or more up for the prizes, and another 30 or so in the wings or audience.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

More witches, and there were spectators, too. Some of my photos didn't turn out. (hard to take photos with 30+ others milling around doing the same thing.

This was one of three raffle collections---the PINK purse came from a Doll Convention. .
The winner was ecstatic...!
AND
We all had great fun, I sure did!
