Pumpkin Spice at Sindy's Patisserie

AD-Free Blog

Chicagoland is enjoying some lovely Fall weather.

Gilly and Barbie stop at the Patisserie

after Zoomba in the Park.

Gilly: These pumpkin spice muffins are to die for. I'm glad I have an hour between classes to endulge, besides the scents from Sindy's ovens are wafting across the street all day.

Barbie: This pumpkin torte is really delicious, I'll need to join another class today just to wear it off!

The Grand View has two outdoor tables set up for the Patisserie.

You have to love the disguised light boxes...with happy jack-o-lantern pumpkins.

Gilly: Did you see those skull cakes and the pumpkins are so cute!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Barbie: I was just wondering who the 'hunk' is in the lobby.

Gilly: He said his name is Gerard, he hit on me in the park---what a line of bull, too.

Barbie: REALLY? I wonder who he is waiting for. To change the subject I do like that Trish did this great job on the decor, very low key and classy and still fun.

Barbie: Fall is my favorite season and after our hot and dry Summer in Chicagoland...this is lovely.

Gilly: Yes, for sure, the cooler temps are divine. Time for me to start another class, see you again this week?

Barbie: If I finish this torte...yes, for sure!

Happy FALL and Pumpkin Spice Season,

Barbie: Aging at 60 but still going strong.

Ad-free Blog

My No.3 Barbie appears occasionally in this blog. I have assumed she has matured and has a classic look, just like me, LOL. I got her in early 1960 for my 12th birthday.

barbieoldnewgreenredo
I use my own photo as a logo---a homage to the Original Barbie, the one who started it all, for all of the BMR's, family, friends out there, whatever age they may be.

In my stories, I have Barbara Millicent Roberts at an age of somewhere between 60-70. She is still actively running BMR enterprises, and her niece Lara, is responsible for real estate development here in Chicago. But, she keeps a hands in no matter where her travels take her.

Barbara (she has grown up) so, I try to keep her in vintage fashions, when she visits. She still has her own style.

barbieoldnewgreenredo
It's pretty classic and true to herself.

barbieoldnewgreenredo
She's even been snowed in, here in Chicago..and lamented about having to stay in.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

She always visits Vickie's Vintage when she is in town. Vickie keeps a watch out for vintage clothing  she knows BMR will love.

Last Christmas this red coat was just what Barbara was looking for.

Barbara needs evening duds for special events.

barbieoldnewgreenredo
She loves to jazz up old standbys.

barbieoldnewgreenredo
She picked up this non-Mattel dress a few years ago, definitely made just for her though.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

She spends lots of time in airports--jetting all over the world for her charities and businesses. She often updates an outfit with a current jacket and accessories.

barbieoldnewgreenredo
Sometimes she cuts loose and wears something totally NEW and fun, like this 'Sparkles' jumpsuit for a rooftop fundraiser party.

barbieoldnewgreenredo
A magazine photo shoot in the park. Over 60 is still 'with it'!

barbieoldnewgreenredo
Not even afraid of closeups.

barbieoldnewgreenredo
She's ageless, even when competing with younger models.

barbieoldnewgreenredo
Here at the opening of Vickie's new Vintage in a rehabbed building done by BMR Enterprises. Barbara added a new jacket to her classic outfit, as she gives a speech promoting small businesses and urban renewal. (my blogs are about Old, New, Green, Redo).

barbieoldnewgreenredo
She promotes women's issues and entrepreneurs. Here with Vickie's interior designer Richelle, and Lara Roberts of BMR Enterprises in Chicago.

A fund raiser with niece, Lara Roberts, and nephew Allan. The dress is custom made...and perfect for a lady in her later years. So, let's celebrate 60 years of class and many, careers! The theme Mattel has chosen to celebrate with is..."You can be anything you want to be." Definitely a great message for young girls and guys!
