AD-FREE BLOG

In case you missed it, here is PART 1:Vickie's Vintage/At the Bijou

Part 2:Monday Morning, Vickie's is closed, but the girls are hard at work!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

EL: Only another six feet---everyone together, 1, 2, 3 PUSH!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Zoe: Maybe we should have left it empty! ERrrrgh!

Vickie: It's stuck, the casters are crooked...move it backwards a bit.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Lara: Hi, sorry the door was open, I knocked, ....

barbieoldnewgreenredo

I just heard hollering, so I came in. Can I help?

Vickie: NOooooo, we got it...PUSH!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Collective PHEW!!!
Vickie: (out of breath) Hi....Lara.....come on in.....we are just resetting the shop.

EL: And our insides (gripping her stomach).

Lara: That's going to look great----say what happened upstairs?

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Lara runs up the stairs....Oh, my...is this a new racey display?

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Vickie: NO! Of course not,  Zoe just set them up this morning. We've been in the basement for the last couple of hours moving fixtures around.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Lara: Is this why you called me?

Vickie: No, but some weird stuff has been happening, mostly electrical, lights, some noises--maybe there is a short somewhere. But this is really strange!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Lara: I can get someone here to check out everything. I'll help you get these two back up!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Vickie: There, no harm done.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Lara: Those two look like an Eternal Couple---they always look perfect together! Show me what else has been happening.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Vickie: Well, down here we hear like 'muzak' very faintly mostly like saxaphones--and that light up there has been blinking non-stop.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

EL: Downstairs, I think I hear a scraping noise behind the old tunnel entrance. And the freight elevator has been cranky, stopping and starting at whim.

Lara: Well, this list is getting long....I'll get someone from BMR on it, right away.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Zoe: It's just all a bit Spooky. We never had any issues until a week ago.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Lara: I just called Russell, and he will be over here tomorrow to check everything out. Make a specific list, and we will try and figure out what's going on.

Vickie: Thanks, I'm going to call Joe and have him reset our security system before I go home and make sure the cameras are working correctly.

Lara: Good idea, I'll check with Trish and at the GrandView and see if anything unusual is going on there, too. Can't be too careful. We want to keep the neighborhood safe!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Lara: The store looks fabulous---!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

...I'm glad you have guys' fashions now---that is a plus for the neighborhood.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Vickie: We try---and Fall is always a bit of this and that! The girls are great at merchandising.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Lara: Love that jacket----I might have to have that.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Vickie: Turning the rack....I can put a hold on the jacket. Anything else?

Lara: Great and I'll be back tomorrow with Russell, okay. And then I can look around some more. Bye....

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Vickie: Thanks for all your hard work, girls. Lara's going to get the contractor in here to check everything out tomorrow. So, see you then.

Zoe, I'm not in until Wednesday afternoon. Carly is in tomorrow.

Vickie: Thanks again, goodnight.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Vickie locks the door and picks up her phone: Joe, say can you come down here and check out the security system.  We've been having some electrical issues. I want to make sure it is working properly.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Joe: Sure, I can be there in a few.

Joe: Love ya, Doll.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Vickie: My hero, sorry to make you move on your day off!

Joe: Any spending time with you is my no.1 anyway. What's up here, the store looks great!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Vicki: Well, this camera wasn't working last night---I see the light is on now. Oooops, there goes the lights again, and we found the mannikins face down on the bench this afternoon. In the middle of the DAY?

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Joe: The light is off again. (fiddles with the wiring)

Vickie: Lara is having the contractor come and check everything out tomorrow, there must be a short somewhere or something....?

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Joe: These mannikins are heavy----I don't know how they could topple over on their own.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Vickie: A little closer. We had just moved the guys' cabinet and I didn't have much strength left to move them together.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Joe: I  think everything is working, now. I checked the breakers and reset all the cord breakers. Oh, I see what you mean about flickering. It's good you have a Pro check it out.
Now, where am I taking you for dinner?

(*they lock everything up*)
barbieoldnewgreenredo

Lights out the store takes on a shady filtered look. And it's quiet, with and occasional crackle and hummmm.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Him: Haven't you caused enough trouble today.....?

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Her: You know I'm your worst nightmare, Nathan. (chuckle).

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Her: I wish they hadn't made this a store....I miss the candles on the tables, the stage.....sigh

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Nathan: I miss the bar! 100 years is a long time to be without a drink...I miss your golden voice singing, DollFace.

Marietta: Aww....you haven't called me that fer....ever.

Nathan: And you haven't aged a bit in forever, Mari.....

~~~\\!!!FLASH!!!//~~~
barbieoldnewgreenredo
Nathan: What was that? I could almost see the amber in your eyes.....
Mari: I remember outside the Bijou and having my photograph taken....I love photographs. I wonder if a camera caught my 'good' side?
Vickie's Vintage End of the Season?:At the Bijou Part 1
 It's Friday night, and this HOT Summer has flown by. Our weather is still hot and we are almost empty down here in Vickie's Resort Wear land! But, Vickie's Vintage still has some great BUYS FOR GUYS. So come on down to Vickie's Vintage Lower Level,  Saturday is our last day for OUR SUMMER SALE!
This is EL, come see us tomorrow at Vickies' Vintage Lower Level Resort Wear~!
barbieoldnewgreenredo
EL: Hmmm, now let's see Twitter, U-tube, Facebook, website, Pinterest, hmmmmand send to all!.....bzzzzzzzzzt! Done.
I can't believe we have to start shifting everything for Halloween---I hope we have more than a week, so much stuff is piled in the stock room.
BZzzzzzzzz! Hmmm, it's Vickie, she's coming down later to discuss the merchandise move.
barbieoldnewgreenredo
We definitely still have stuff left for guys.
barbieoldnewgreenredo
A bit later...
EL: Hi, Rehyna, did you find everything you needed today?
Rehyna: Well, if we keep having this hot weather, maybe I'll need some more clothes. I saw you are only going to be open down here another day for the sale.
EL: True, but, we will move some items upstairs and then it is time to get ready for the Halloween Dungeon again.
Rehyna: Oh, wonderful, I think the Grand View is having a Halloween party for the residents. See you, soon when you open the DUNGEON....(chuckle).
barbieoldnewgreenredo
Lucy: Oh, I love all the fun colors from this summer. I can't wait for the Halloween shop.
barbieoldnewgreenredo
Vickie: Hi, Ladies. Looks like you found some great buys. Thanks for coming in! Tuesday we will have new Fall merchandise in upstairs.
Rehyna: EL, takes great care of us---and you always have fabulous stock, see you then.
oldnewgreenredo
Vickie thinking: (EL seems to have everything  under control. She's right, there is very little merchandise left for the gals. Hmmmm, I wonder if this unit will fit upstairs? I'm sure glad we put it on rollers and then we can bring it up in the freight elevator.)
Vickie: EL, do you think we can use this unit for  Fall GUYS stuff upstairs?
barbieoldnewgreenredo
EL: Sure, it's not in my plan for Halloween. That would be great if we can keep the guys coming in---and not lose our momentum. I just sent out a last call to social media for the Sale. Hopefully many will show up tomorrow and we will have good sales, so we will have less to move.
barbieoldnewgreenredo
Vickie: Great! Let me see how the girls are doing upstairs, and you have really done a great job down here this summer! So, Monday is a work day and we will move this monster upstairs and you can fill me in on your Halloween plans!
EL: Great, I'll run the register tapes now and get closed up.
barbieoldnewgreenredo
Upstairs, Vickie surveys all the work Carly and Zoe have been doing.
barbieoldnewgreenredo
Carly: After pulling all these clear shelves out, we definitely have more room for Fall boots!
We pulled most of the summer sandals out, but they've been selling. It's been so hot!
barbieoldnewgreenredo
Zoe: I've got the white pumps to put upstairs that were left.
Vickie: Great...you gals did a cool job, I like this better than staring at boxes.
barbieoldnewgreenredo
Carly: Boxes do take a lot of room---but we sold SO many! I wish we had more neutrals though. That is what the Fall websites and magazines are showing!
barbieoldnewgreenredo
Vickie: I know what you mean, neutrals always sell.
Zoe: But, in Spring the Fall runways were full of color...so I think we have a good balance!
barbieoldnewgreenredo
Vickie: You girls have gotten so good at this...love these shelves! You are going to be busy keeping it full!
barbieoldnewgreenredo
Zoe: Carly did that top shelf---those items won't last long!
barbieoldnewgreenredo
Vickie: It looks great and I hope we have a good Fall.
barbieoldnewgreenredo
Carly: Well, I'll drag these to the store room, and we can bring out the carousel again.We have that switched out to transitional before Fall. With this hot weather it might be hard to sell boots and jackets?
Vickie: True, but we are supposed to have a little break on Sunday. What is that mumbling I'm hearing...is the music speaker still on? Is there someone upstairs?
Zoe: I'll check when I take up these boxes.
Vickie:I heard something earlier, maybe next door left music on or something.
barbieoldnewgreenredo
Zoe: No one up here, I'm turning off the lights and checking all the circuits, I don't hear anything from up here. Tomorrow I still have to dress the Fall mannikins tomorrow, but it's so late!
(The girls all get ready to leave together. It's Friday night and it's pretty late...! _
EL: Do you know what the history is on this building...I know it's old, but how old?
Vickie: Well, I know it was a grocery at one time in the 1880's, then a drugstore. This whole block was built between 1872 and 1880's, after the Chicago Fire. I guess it was a speakeasy during Prohibition, but then everything was. Why, do you ask?
EL: Just the freight elevator has been a bit dicey, was wondering what it was used for, and the tunnel behind the furnace room?
Carly: I know the elevator stuck on me the other night. I think the tunnels are how they got their booze from place to place? This whole area had tunnels according to my dad. He works for the telephone company and says they string cables in some of the old tunnels where they moved coal and garbage.
Vickie: Hmmmm, well enough Northside history. And about drinking, anyone up for a pizza and some beer....my treat?
Me! ME! Me!
EL: You are at the best boss Vickie!
