Ginny: It's so nice to see you Vera, I've really missed our chats. And, it's hard to say, but since I live alone, I think you are the first hand I have felt since March. (Sighhhh!)
Vera: Oh, no...I didn't think of that, we are 6 in our apartment right now, and we are never alone. I'm glad you are my first customer then.
barbieoldnewgreenredo |
Vera: I know it seems strange to be touching anyone, of course we will bathe in sanitizer when we are done. (Chuckle). The barriers help though at least it helps to make us feel safer. Ginny, were you working from home?
barbieoldnewgreenredo |
Ginny: Yes, thank goodness, so many people were, no are, still out of work.
Vera: Yes, three months has been really hard. I did some online work for my father-in-law, but the bills sure stacked up. Now, what color are you thinking of for your nails, and are we doing a pedicure too?
Ginny: Hot pink, and the feet will have to wait, I have to get home for a Zoom meeting. My boss thinks that's the hottest thing since mashed potatoes. I just had to come and see your new salon. It's very nice.
Vera: Thanks for coming in, and we have a gift of lotion soap and a sanitizer, for coming into Jacquie's. Please come in again!
barbieoldnewgreenredo
Ginny: Thanks again, Vera...love the color and the goodie bag, see you soon!
MaryAnn has a new customer.
|
barbieoldnewgreenredo |
MaryAnn: Jacquie said you are her sister-in-law, Casey and you are a nurse.
Casey: Yes, I'm an RN and Respiratory Therapist. Jacquie has been taking care of my daughter, Kimmy, while I've worked double shifts for two months. I'm starting on furlough tonight, so I will finally be able to see my little girl. I want all this gray gone first. She's only two, and I don't want to scare her.
barbieoldnewgreenredo |
Casey: I'm only 28 and this gray makes me look like I'm 50. I wasn't gray in March, can stress change your hair color?
MaryAnn: They say that's possible. How about a few inches off first and then we will, "Away with that Gray."
Casey: Oh, yes, please, just a nice bob, and then it won't be so hot. We were trimming each others bangs in the break room. (Laugh) Desperation, I guess.
barbieoldnewgreenredo |
Casey: Yikes, in this light the gray is really bad!
One hour later:
barbieoldnewgreenredo |
MaryAnn: There now the gray is gone! Now to tame the cowlicks!
Jacquie: Casey, you look wonderful, and I know all about those cowlicks. That's why I cut your brother's hair so short!
barbieoldnewgreenredo |
Casey: This feels so good, now I can see Kimmy. Ooops, my mask slipped.
barbieoldnewgreenredo |
MaryAnn: That's okay, your smile was worth it, now we tamed the cowlicks, and you are ready for the world again.
barbieoldnewgreenredo |
Casey: Thanks again, MaryAnn and Jacquie! I have to run, I have oodles of paperwork to finish at the hospital, and then I will see my little girl tonight.
barbieoldnewgreenredo |
Casey: I've got to run! Bye!
barbieoldnewgreenredo |
Jacquie: Thanks again, Sharon.
Sharon: Thanks, for the quick trim...my hair was driving me crazy. Love your new shop..and it is so close now!
Jacquie: My pleasure, please come again, Sharon.
Sharon: You know I will, thanks for the bag, I have to go buy some bakery now, the smells are killing me...!
barbieoldnewgreenredo |
Sharon walks across the lobby to Sindy's Patisserie.
Sharon: Everything looks delicious. I have to have four of those lemon cookies, four chocolate chip and four pieces of your Kringle, that looks delicious. I'll share with my neighbor, she's 80 and has quite a sweet tooth! Oh, and a coffee to go, please.
barbieoldnewgreenredo |
Sindy: Thank you, I hope your neighbor likes everything. We have pickup available, just place your order on the website and we can have it ready for you.
Sharon: Thanks, but I can stop in!
Sindy: Sure, I'll give you a napkin and you can have a sip outside at our table.
barbieoldnewgreenredo |
We wish we could serve you inside, but not yet. Thank you for coming in!
Back in Jacquie's the girls are scrubbing down all the surfaces and changing gloves,
barbieoldnewgreenredo |
...getting ready for the next appointments.
Jacquie: Gracious, we have been busy. Casey looked great MaryAnn, thank you for doing such a great job.
MaryAnn: She's such a sweetie, Jacquie, my pleasure!
barbieoldnewgreenredo |
Vera: An unexpected breather....oh, there's the buzzer, next appointments are coming in.
barbieoldnewgreenredo |
MaryAnn: Hi....Chris...how much did we want to take off. You seem to need some conditioning, too.
Chris: Please just trim the ends...and yes, the full on treatment for the frizzies, please!
Meanwhile Jacquie has her hands full!
barbieoldnewgreenredo |
Kennedy: I think it's over-processed, I tried to do my own color and it FRIZZED!
Jacquie: I think so, I'm sure I can get this under control. Did you try to wave it also?
Kennedy: Yes, it didn't work right, though, (sigh). Never again!
barbieoldnewgreenredo |
Jacquie: Okay I will try a mild relaxing solution and a double nutrient treatment and we will see what happens!
barbieoldnewgreenredo |
Kennedy: I think it looks better already!
What mysterious lady is getting a pedicure and manicure?

Chris: It doesn't feel like straw anymore...you are a magician, MaryAnn!
Vera: Well, Miss Colette, what color do you wish for your nails? |
Colette: Always, Rusty Rose, pleeez.
Vera: Perfect choice...!
Later.
Lara Roberts and Chris are cousins!
Lara: Your hair looks great, Chris! Everyone sure is busy, between the bakery and the salon, we are very happy to be open to the public, finally.
Chris: Thanks, MaryAnn recommended shielding my hair from the sun. I guess I will have to wear a hat now. Your hair looks great Lara!
Lara: Well, I'm always working inside, so I don't get a chance to get sun!
Chris: Well, we filled the pool in the backyard,
Lara: Like my mask says, I'm smiling, and thanks sounds great! Hugs! Oops, phone, excuse me.
Ms. Roberts, here. How may I help you?

Ha, ha, you get points for managing to paint those itty-bitty fingernails! Glad to see your dolls are starting to get out and about... Mine seem to be doing whatever they want! But I can say, here in Philly, there's a rumor an outdoor flea market will open this weekend and I think I'm giddy:@)
ReplyDeleteLOL, I used paint pen paint, and a 3-0 fine line brush...two coats...! Oh, my a flea market, I dropped some stuff off at GoodWill, I had in the car since March...but they closed early and I didn't get to go in.SIGH!
DeleteThanks for stopping by!Sandi
Thank you Linda, I know, I cut my own hair, and have to give it a month before I show my face in salon...LOL. I'm not a big believer in salons, pedicures or manicures, but to some it is very important. Sighs, thanks, Sandi
ReplyDeleteTLMAO....oh, well, it grows so fast in the summer, LOL.
DeleteLOVED THIS!!! You have such good detail!! Great stories too!!
ReplyDeleteAW, thanks, Steph, and especially for stopping by--I appreciate it! Sandi
DeleteAh those were the days, how I long to go to the hairdressers without all this hullabaloo! I have managed to book an appointment to get my nails and toenails done though. :) One can always tuck hair up under a hat but, there is little one can do to camouflage crappy fingenails though, one has to take their gloves off to eat!! LOL!
ReplyDeleteI loved this post Sandi!! It must have taken a long time and a lot of posing and re-posing to get this right.
Big hugs,
X
LOL, Xanadu... thank you---I've been working on the hotel for almost 6 months since finished. But, I really have to put it away, because it is so huge. I made the walls able to fold, so one pose can be taken from many angles which helps...appreciate your visit, and good luck on the mani-pedicures. Grins!
DeleteHa ha ha ha ha!!!!! Just in time! The hair salons have just reopened in my neck of the woods today!!! I see your ladies were feeling most anxious to get out and back to some semblance of normalcy. But putting all of this together with the necessary PPE must have taken you a good while! Great job!!!
ReplyDeleteHi, April. Well, I cut my own hair a few weeks ago, so I can't go to the salon now..for awhile. Just thinking of all the people impacted by such a long shutdown in Chicagoland. And then all the custom things that had to be done for everyone's safety. I try to keep it real, and still have a sense of humor, thanks for stopping by! Sandi
