Winter Sale at Vickie's Vintage!

Ad-free Blog

Well, when the weather outside is frightful, what do Chicagoland girls do?
Go Shopping, and what is better than Sale shopping!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Dressed for ugly winter weather, the girls line up in front of Vickie's.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

We really cleaned the place out! Everyone has a bag full of some wonderful bargains! Of course, Vickie's is always full of great vintage wear!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

DeeDee has joined the group, she is a Tall, no,123 playline.
I bought her because of her hair, and she will be looking for a new body...? She's wearing Sparklz capris from last year, I made the white turtleneck and the fur vest which is nice and long for her. She is unnamed at the moment!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Another new girl on the left is a petite MTM, I gave her a haircut, and she is also unnamed. I took advantage of low prices when I was doing my online Christmas shopping. Adding a few MTM's in, to get free shipping. Prices were fluctuating greatly on various dolls at Target and Walmart online. So, I ordered quite a few for their articulated bodies.

Anyway she is quite sweet, and she is wearing the very short and small, Fashion Fever Winter blue Closet over metallic dotted stretch pants. It's too cool in Chicago to have bare legs!
The scarf is a Vickie's Vintage hand-made special!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

My goodness, where does Carly shop when she isn't working at Vickie's?
Vickie's Vintage of course. Carly(Nikki doll from Dream House series) wears a Target sweater from 2018 and some mommy-made vintage leggings!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Midge from Life in the Dream House wears, Twice as Nice #2295 white pants, vintage Silver boots and a Sparklz coat/dress from 2019. Her purse has the Barbie logo, and I have no idea how old it is.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Trish from Divergent wears my WindyCityBDollCollectors club's 60th Barbie birthday party pants, and the outfit I've lost the info on. The boots I think belong with this outfit, with pom-poms removed, and the sparkle purse-I have no source for, it is soft plastic with a small purple flower if anyone knows?

barbieoldnewgreenredo

"Babs" is Wedding Day 1961 Repro...wearing the WCBDCollector's Sweater ,
Jacket is another one I have lost the source for---though it is 90's I believe.
Her pants are the fireman pants from 2017? And vintage riding boots, this makes for a toasty outfit!

Barbieoldnewgreenredo

Babs: Let's go get some Irish coffee and a nosh---before we walk home!

DeeDee: Sounds good to me!

Thank you for visiting, I will try and respond to every question and comment.

Fall Day at the Pumpkin Farm

Ad-free Blog

Everyone is Out at Gilbert's Pumpkin Farm north of Chicago.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Chelsea and Scooter are having a hard time, deciding on Pumpkins.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Auntie Chris, cousin Alan and Skipper can't decide either.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Chelsea is sure she can't lift one of the really big ones.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

"Pumpkin farms aren't just for kids," Shaggy winks at Sandi and Karen, who are seniors.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Channel 7's Teresa is interviewing Erin Gilbert.

Teresa: Erin Gilbert, what is the history of this farm?
Erin: Well, we are fourth generation family farmers. This farm was established in 1849 originally raising crops. Then it was a dairy farm during my great-grandfather's time. We've been raising crops and garden produce for the last 19 years.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Teresa: So, the Pumpkin farm is still a family affair.
Ms.Gilbert: Yes, I grew up running the check-out counter. My brother Eric is running that now. I'm in charge of tour groups and advertising. We really appreciate Channel 7 coming out and seeing what we are doing!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Aidan, the camera man, waves. "Okay I want to get some shots of the produce and your garden center."

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Teresa: Gilbert's Farm isn't just about pumpkins. They have produce and a garden center all year round. Erin, can you tell us about your food offerings?

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Erin:We provide local small businesses the opportunity to sell their products here.We have locally bottle sodas and sparkling juice, our own organic grown popcorn,Orchard Pies from down the road, and vegan and organic baked goods from Sindy's Catering. Her apple cider donuts are the best!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Ian:Great let's go take some more photos in the pumpkin patch. And, Sindy's are the best---I wish she had more time to bake at our house.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Back in the pumpkin patch...
Scooter: I'm stuck in this wagon!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Scooter: I'm stuck, but, I want this pumpkin!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Teresa: I have Chelsea and Skipper here. What is the best thing about the farm?
Chelsea: I had fun in the corn maze...the corn was so high. I liked the pony ride, too.
Skipper: We just moved from California, and I really like the apple orchard and the pumpkin patch. It's a big change from sand and ocean, but fun!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Ian: Great! Let's get some more shots of the visitors.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Aidan and Alana, came out with Nicky and Jeffrey. They are having a great time.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Nicky: This place is fabulous, I need a really big pumpkin for work. We're having a contest. How's your pumpkin spice coffee concoction?
Jeffrey: Pretty tasty, I have to get another donut.

Barbieoldnewgreenredo

Vivian and Vince are waiting in line to check out.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Teresa: How was your day at the pumpkin farm?
Karen: Well, we walked the corn maze for too long. But, it has been a beautiful day and the farm is really just like a remember as a kid. We are going to pick up a bushel of apples for a pie, and of course some pumpkins.
Celeste: Shaggy and I came all the way out here for the corn maze...it was a challenge, the corn is so high this year!
Teresa: Thank you for the interviews, now back to the studio from the Gilbert's Pumpkin Farm.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Nicky: I'm bushed. What are Alana and Aidan doing.
Jeffrey: I think she is buying out the store.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Aidan: Alana, the sun is going down. What else do you want?
Alana: Just two of those donuts, coffee, and that big pumpkin, and a gourd, maybe this cute orange tin pot.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Eric: Thanks for visiting Gilbert's. (Big Smile)
Aidan: Yea sure, the donuts are really good though, can I get those in a bag to go?
Eric: Sure! Here ya are, for sure!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Nicky: Jeff, we're ready...!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Jeffrey: Hey Aidan, at least you dont' have one of these huge pumpkins!
Nicky: They are pretty heavy. How far is the car?

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Six blocks is a long, long way. Too far, after a day at Gilbert's!

Cast: Huge--all dolls are Rescued except for Happy Family Grandma-purchased, and Alan (anniversary re-issue)-I won as a prize. Clothing mostly vintage, or handmade, a few purchased pieces. Teresa's outfit is a Mattel Wonder Woman Barbie dress and jacket. Really too cute. Nicky wears a recent Mario jacket, again a cute piece. I didn't show the back, sigh. Alana is in Sparkle pants and the 'Mt.Climber shirt'. Grandma Sandi wears a home sewn suede coat and pants from a vintage pattern.
Any other questions, I'll be happy to try and answer. Some pieces may not be Barbie's or family's at all?

First Day-Special Guest at Vickie's Vintage

AD-Free Blog

Very early on the first day---Vickie opened her door early for Lara Roberts and Barbara M R. Not only are they her building manager and landlady--they have become her very good friends.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Vickie's is ready for the crowd today---if yesterday was an indication.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

BMR: Congratulations Vickie and for your prospective groom, too. That was quite the announcement last night.
Vickie: Thank you, I think we were surprised too.
BMR:Well, the store looks fabulous---especially without all those people that were here last night. I have to get some shopping in---I saw a yellow suit, I'm interested in.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

(Last night snapshot of Richelle, BMR and Lara on the stairs. These three are responsible for the re-construction of the building.)

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Lara: Auntie Barb, look what I found, I love this dress.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Zoe: There are two pair of slacks, the robe, and top here. How about this great golf skirt? Lara said you are quite the golfer.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

BMR: I love the little purse---and the skirt is perfect...not too short-you know I'm getting older and a certain amount of decorum is necessary.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Ryan's Mom, Sandi, chimes in: Oh Miss Roberts---you always look so fabulous you are a role model for all women of a 'certain age.' (She giggles)

barbieoldnewgreenredo

BMR: Why thank-you. I really try to be a role model. And, working with Vickie, Richelle, and Ryan has been a dream. Dealing with local regulations and acquiring historical status for this building wasn't easy and caused so many delays in construction. I think it is worth it though!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Vickie: We love the store, it's perfect. Thanks again, Miss Roberts. And, I'm glad you found something you liked.

BMR: (Big smile) It's always great shopping at Vickie's, Dear.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Looks like we bought out the store.... Now breakfast!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

There's always great shopping at Vickie's Vintage

(more on Vickie's Opening day later)
