Vintage Doll Finds Summer 2019

I may have not been able to thrift shop/garage sale---but there always is the internet for Vintage  FINDS! Please excuse the backgrounds. I needed to sit down for most of this...so major settings, weren't in the plan. LOTS OF OLD IN THIS POST---I'll try and identify where I can.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

I did bid on this 1987
source ebay pinterest

vintage patio set----in perfect condition...box was a bit roughed up, but you would be to if you were shuffled around for ...years.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

I did add the water bottles and doughnuts for some extra color...but the rest is original.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

What I really like is these aren't faded and a bit taller then many sets---large enough for Ken dolls to look comfortable! Over inch above the ground.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Another fun thing for the Kens is the paddle ball game...I found at the dollar store. I did venture in with my husband when he drove me in July.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

I'm using it in a diorama, it really works and you have to defend or hit the ball with the paddles by pulling the levers---even Ken's might be able to fake that.
barbieoldnewgreenredo

I try and pick up anything that can be used for floral arrangements. These are the perfect size and came together in a mixed bag-super cheap.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

This was a crazy mixed up goody-bag at a thrift store, except for the fruit and dishes from the patio set. Some really odd stuff. I buy mixed bags if I see 2 or 3 things in it I really want. In this case it was the toilet-which makes this a GOLD-Bag---they are so scarce, a big suitcase, electric keyboard and the pooper scooper---
I think it is probably horse related, lol.
I have a horse stall, that was stripped when I got it,  I think vegetable basket, the blue tray, might be part of that.
Love the gas tank for a grill, too.
That will come in handy.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

The square right thing is for exercise equipment, I think, we will see. The hat---is a 1993 Disney Mattel Mary Poppins hat--I think I will straighten it out and see if anyone might want it. The barbie belt I haven't found yet, but assume it's from the 90's or early 2000's. I might redo it, for a fun door prize at my Barbie Club.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

I got a few mixed orders on Ebay and one on Etsy. Different Ken clothes are hard to find reasonable. The (McHammer?) pants and some tee shirts, are all in pretty good shape, some just need a wash.

The tux suit was in pretty good shape...and black pants are always needed. The blue shirt is home-sewn-just needs the seams trimmed and the facings tacked down.

barbieoldnewgreenredo
The girls bags were really mixed. I have no idea where the jumpsuit is from...thinking maybe not Barbie, it has no lable, but is very well made and detailed. If anyone knows...please contact me.
I thought maybe Charlie's angels, but nothing came up in a search for that.
Another heavy satin pink gown(I'll redo--lame trim on it), but in very good condition...a sparkly one-two short costumes?or winter outfits, and a cute sundress, nicely made--probably is unmarked Barbie-has velcro in the back, but I love the fabric, a heavy knit with nice detail.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

This Barbie Pink Sensations dress-1987?, the jacket has melted arms-it's really disgusting. I'm going to try and remake the sleeves in white satin.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

How many glittery ruched dresses did Barbie have, I think I have a dozen or so, all different. I'm not going to waste time looking for, but it is in perfect shape. There were two cute purses in the batch, this lavender glitter one and beige one, I missed in the pic.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Rocker jacket this is in such good condition, I'm going to call it from 2008, I've seen it paired with those pants? Not sure what went under the jacket. The beach dress is from Glitter Hair Barbie 1993..it came in three colors and three different doll versions.
I had no luck finding the skirt, and the generic tricot top, and the rocker top---actually might be kens?

barbieoldnewgreenredo

A clone peignoir set in excellent condition---except for neck straps and easy redo and easily replaced. And, one of those 1997 Flower Fun Barbie Dress...this one has an undamaged 'flower' on it.

There were a few more plain skirts, jeans, shorts, and some generic hand sewn pieces in these batches.

This is the good stuff---I easily have more than this, that needs attention: washing, mending, fasteners or all the above...still waiting to be washed and see what is salvageable.

This was my 'stuck at home' phase...I do have a bunch of furniture I bought before I hurt my knee--it was in the trunk of the car and I forgot about it...I will have to include in another post!

Celebrating Under the HFIM Christmas Tree Part 1

Ad-free Blog

It's hard to believe this is the third Christmas in the HFIM house. The 'family' has grown to include extended family and friends. Missing are Barbie and Chelsea who are in California with her sister, Mulan, who is in Beijing on sabbatical, and Elsa and Anna who have moved back to Sweden.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Zoe: Patrick, this is Gilly, our new roommate at the townhouse.
Patrick: I think I have seen you at the bar...welcome to our little group.
Gilly: I had no idea everyone had so many friends, this is great. My mom nagged me to come home---but I have so many gals signed up for my classes, I couldn't afford to.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

The living room furniture and tree have been moved to make room for everyone.

The HFIM cats have been banished upstairs to Chelsea's room, and...

barbieoldnewgreenredo

...the dogs to the girls' bedroom. Foofie whines, softly.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Downstairs there are just too many legs to get tangled in,

barbieoldnewgreenredo

...and nummies to get into.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Foofy obviously whines for the treats in-waiting.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Rory: Merry Christmas everyone.

I'm so glad everyone could make it to the third annual HFIM house Christmas. We have twenty-five elves who added twenty-five presents under our trees tonight. Secret Santa looks to be very generous this year. Remember---not to reveal which Santa brought which present---and think of your presents as gifts from every Santa in this room.

Many of us have jobs, keeping us from going home to our families and our own holiday traditions. I hope everyone here thinks of the person next to you as family and this house as your home.

So, we've asked Kevin and Ken to lead in singing a few holiday songs.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Kevin (L): Let's start out with "Jingle Bells"...
Ken (R): and then slide into..."Silver Bells".

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Jeffrey: "Silver Bells" is my mom's favorite.
Carly: My grandmother's, too.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Then Lara joins Dr. Ken in "The weather outside is frightful, and the fire is so delightful, since we've no place to go,.....let it snow, let it snow, let it snow."

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Joe starts a new song, in his particularly nice baritone, "Come they told me, pa-rum-pa-pa-pum..."
Vickie:"...a new born King to see, ....

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Ryan starts with his favorite,  "I'll be home for Christmas, you can plan on me."
Richelle: "Please have snow and mistletoe...,"

barbieoldnewgreenredo

"...and presents on the tree...."

barbieoldnewgreenredo

"Christmas Eve will find me, where the love light gleams."

barbieoldnewgreenredo

"I'll be home for Christmas ....."

barbieoldnewgreenredo

"...if only in my dreams."

Rory: That was really lovely everyone! Better than our cast at the theatre. The food should be here within the hour, so how about we clear up these packages, or we won't have any place to eat.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Rory: Ian will you please be Secret Santa's helper?
Ian: Sure, shouldn't we start with those big ones.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Rory: Um, Secret Santas, these two presents look rigged, and too big for our $20 limit.
What are Stuart and Aidan, up to?

barbieoldnewgreenredo

(sounds of frantic paper ripping)

Aidan; Wow, Skateboards and two ramps---amazing what you can find in thrift stores.
Stuart: (snickers)
Rory: Take it outside guys, so we can get some more chairs in here.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Stuart: This set-up is perfect for this skinny backyard. Aidan, this was a great idea---thanks for the 'gift'.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Aidan: How far apart do they need to be, never used ramps so small before.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Dr. Ken: Don't break your necks, guys. I'm off duty tonight! (Shakes his head) I can't watch this.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Stuart: Let me try, one more time, and then you can show-off, Aidan.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Aidan: Hey Buddy, are you okay?

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Stuart: I think so?. Maybe we should go sing with the rest of the gang. I'm sorta out of breath now, anyway.
Aidan: Ken said this is his first night off in two and half weeks, so glad to hear it, and best you keep your groaning to a minimum, or at least groan in tune with the music.

(to be continued)

"I'll be home for Christmas", by lyricist Kim Gannon and composer Walter Kent. First recorded by Bing Crosby in 1943.

"Let it snow, let it snow", by lyricist Sammy Cahn and the Broadway songwriter Jule Styne in 1945. Originally recorded by Vaughn Monroe--and then everyone else, lol.

I will try and respond to every comment and answer every question.

Last Minute Shopping at Vickie's Vintage

Ad-free Blog

Belle and Ian are on the street in front of
Vickie's on December 23rd.

Ian: Do you mind waiting here while I run in quick and pick something out for my secret Santa gift.

Belle: Are you sure you don't want help?

Ian: Nah, I have three sisters, I should be able to handle this.

Belle:No problem, I'll get a hot chocolate next door and wait for you here. It's pretty nice out right now, no wind.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

The street is filled with shoppers spilling out from Vickie's.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Inside, Carly helps Kevin try to choose a for his secret Santa gift. Vickie's has been busy all day and it is late in the afternoon.

Carly: This would be perfect for your Santa gift, and it's just under the dollar count.

Kevin: Are you sure that's the right size...it looks kinda big. I don't know....?

Carly: This is the last one in blue, I can show you something else?

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Kevin: I just don't know.

Ian: I DO!...That's perfect for my gift, I'll take it!

Carly: Is that okay, Kevin?

Kevin: Sure...but maybe you can show me something in a different color.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Ian: It's perfect can you wrap it real well. I don't want anyone seeing what I have.

Carly: Sure, Ian...anything else you need to find, I can help you.

barbieoldnewgreenredo
Ian: Carly was a great help---and please wrap up some of these soaps for my Mom. She loves that kinda stuff. Great place you have here, no wonder the girls all love it.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Belle: That was fast! I didn't even get my hot chocolate.

Ian: Well, then let's go for Pizza around the corner then. I know the kitchen is busy at the HFIM house...so we might as well make sure we get a meal out.

Belle: No anchovies though, please.

Back in Vickie's-shopping is intense!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Carrie: Mom, I want to get an overnight case for Gramma, she loves  blue.

Mom: Oh, that's a great idea. I'm sure we can find something here.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Carrie: This is cute, but it's not big enough.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Carrie: There is so much to choose from.

Mom: Hey, Honey. How about this one. It's the perfect size.

Carrie: Oh, great, let me see if I can find things that fit.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Carrie: How about a brush, comb, perfume, and body lotion...they all fit. Let's get this. I'll go check out Mom, I have my own money.

While Carrie checks out Mom quickly scouts the racks.

Mom: Okay, I'll look around. Excuse me, Miss. Do you have anything in my daughter's size?

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Carly: Sure, How about one of these? Very cute and not too short.

Mom: Oh, those are perfect can you hang those up and I'll have my brother pick them up. His name is Patrick. Oooops, here she comes.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Carrie: Can I meet my friends for hot chocolate?

Mom: Sure, mind if I tag along for a bit?---That sounds delicious. So do you have all your shopping done then?

Carrie: Yes, everything is checked off my list.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Carly: How about this Kevin? It's definitely not blue, and it's the only one. Same price, too.

Kevin: That's super cool, wrap it up and can I get some wrapping paper and a bow, too, please.

Carly: Sure....no charge either. Meet you at the register.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Upstairs, Zoe helps Patrick find the perfect gifts.

Zoe: Any idea what you would like to find for your Secret Santa gift?

Patrick: Hmmm, I don't see anything up here. My sister just texted me to pick up something downstairs for my niece.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Midge: Oh this turquoise dress is adorable. Um, I'm supposed to be finishing my shopping...ugh!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Vickie: Did you find everything you need, Midge?

Midge: Way more than I need, ha-ha.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

...Please may I have extra bags and a few bows...then I can be done.

Vickie: No problem, it really is getting down to the wire. I'm afraid of how busy we might be tomorrow. Today has been, pheeewwwee!

Midge: You have such a good crew---you gals can handle anything!  Here comes Patrick.

bbarbieoldnewgreenredo

Patrick: Hey Carly---are you trying to trap us upstairs? Any chance you know about some package for my sister?

Carly: Sure Patrick, I just had to get off my feet for a second. It's for your niece so we hid it in the hold section.

barbieoldnewgreenredo
Patrick: I know it's supposed to be a secret, but does anyone know Gilly? I got her name for secret Santa and I've never met her. I need some ideas, quick.

Add captionbarbieoldnewgreenredo
Carly: She's my new roommate. She's blonde, ahh-- and a, Zumba instructor, has lots of energy. How about this hooded top---she would look great in this. Maybe add a workout bag or a Yoga mat.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Patrick: Okay, I like the top and the mat idea. I don't want to go over the limit. Besides, I don't know her.

Carly: Once you meet her, you won't have any problem knowing her, she's kinda...er...ah...unique and memorable!

barbieoldnewgreenredo
later....

Carly: Hi, Ryan's mom! Who are you shopping for...?

Ryan's Mom: Richelle and my best friend. I found the most beautiful purple dress for Richelle upstairs. And a gift basket with your new bath products will certainly makes a great gift.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Ryan's Mom: I even found something for me...lol. That seems to always happen here. Merry Christmas to you all!

Vickie: Merry Christmas!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Outside...

Merry Christmas, Monnie! Looks like you have all your shopping done.

Monnie: Not yet, how about you---I love that purple dress, is it for Richelle.......?

Ryan's Mom: It sure is, and I got the cutest little purse to go with it. You know they have all those parties and fund-raisers they have to go to for work.

Inside, poor Sindy leans agains the jewelry cabinet. She looks wiped out.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Sindy: If I never bake another cookie, it will be too soon. I haven't gotten a single present bought, yet! My mom is so hard to buy for.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Carly: How about this great lounging outfit, Sindy?

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Carly: Or this soft jogging suit, it was a sample from a local boutique.

Sindy: Oh, I'll take both of them, and I need a secret Santa gift, then I have to deliver my last batch of cookies. Ten boxes of my Ultimate Christmas Cookies. I don't have the energy to do more than that tonight.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Sindy pays for her purchases, and lugs it out the door, along with her 10 orders of cookies.

Sindy: I'll see you all at the party!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Zoe: Psssst, was Sindy the last customer. I hope so,....quick shut the door. I have it all straightened up here.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Vickie: Only one more day and then we can put our feet up and have a cocktail. So, how about a quick clean-up and some more bows on the bannister. We need more tissue, too.

Zoe: Sure, there isn't anymore stock to put out---this is it!

Carly: I can't imagine what it will be like tomorrow? Why does everyone leave their shopping to the last minute.

Carly: Giggles.....I'm not done.

Zoe:---Neither am I----giggle.

Vickie: I have one of the guys for secret Santa...
What on earth do you get one of those guys? ...snort!

Such is retail at Christmas....!
