Here's Hoping!

My Gramma doll wishes you a Happy New Year from Me.
She's pretty close to what I look like when I found her. But, I gave her gray hair some blonde highlights and a bit of fresh makeup and tweaked her smile...!
So she's a Mini Me wishing you Happy New Year 2025.

So in Blog world, I have been pretty quiet the last half of this year...I'm still recovering from surgery, spending time with family, and just low-keying life as much as possible.

Wishing YOU ALL, the BEST possible for the NEW YEAR.

Just a suggestion, but I'm wearing a seatbelt at all times,
because it's going to be a BUMPY RIDE!

HUGS, Sandi @ OldNewGreenRedo

Grand Hotel: News Scoop

Ad-Free Blog

Back at the girls' townhouse, a few friends are having an impromptu gabfest upstairs in the bedroom.

(Top row: Gilly, the exercise instructor  and left, Tereeza (reporter for Channel 7-Chicago).

Lower left:Carly(Assistant manager at Vickie's Vintage, and right: Faizah, a student at North Western in political science.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Tereeza: Wow, wait until I tell you this! We sure had a full day today. Ian, my camera guy and I went all the way down to Peoria to interview this incredible singer, Colette, who is moving to Chicago.

Lara on left below, manager of the remodeled, Le'Grand Hotel, and right, Zoe, bridal consultant at Vickie's.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Lara: Oh, wow! What is she like? I have only talked to her 'people'. She has a hold on the last apartment, 2A in the Hotel, for a two year lease. If that gets finalized, we will be totally occupied. She hasn't been available to view the apartment, because she was in Paris.

Remember I showed you all a publicity still?

"Colette takes Paris", 2019 publicity photo.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Tereeza: Well, Mademoiselle Colette is something else. We were kept waiting for nearly an hour, but once the lights and speakers came on, she was 'electric'. Our interview went like this...

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Colette: I think deez light are too much, fix pleez! I know not vhat to do with my legs, without my gown on...how is dees?

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Colette: How's dees? If I lift my cheenie? Eez my coiffure, how you say, perfect?

Tereeza: Ian had to move the lights around for a half an hour. But, Colette definitely does have charisma. And, she's not rude, just cloyingly demanding. She had Ian panting, before he even got one shot, and it wasn't from activity. She personally ran the interview, and we just madly took footage.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Lara: Well, that explains why I have to show her the apartment in the afternoon. She said, "Mornings were not civilized." I think I will go now, I will have to double check the apartment. The tilers and floor people were in there today---I will have to see if they finished. Have fun ladies. And, I'm looking forward to meeting this Meez Colette.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Tereeza: Wait, then she stood up and background music started somewhere, and she began to sing---OMG, her sound gave you chills. She sang something in French---I have no idea what,...but it had to be about 'lost love' or something. Mademoiselle Colette has an amazing voice.

Then she sat down...blinked her eyes and asked, "Must we have zees questions? I do no questions. I vill be very happy to be in Chee-cogo for sometime. We plan to make very much music here, and record."

She sighed and we said, thank you! I think Ian bowed.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Suddenly one of her people appeared, and Collette took off her wig. And, she never said another word.

Emilie: I am Emilie: Mademoiselle Colette 'eez' finished now. Zank yoo very mooch! You may go, pleeze!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Tereeza: Could you please tell us where and when you will be performing? I really love your style!

Emilie: Mademoiselle does not perform like trained dog,...she zings like zee rarest bird. Will you be zo kind to pleeze go...!

Zank yoo!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Lara: Oh, my---! Well, I guess I'm forewarned. This will be very interesting, tomorrow. Good nite! Thanks again, Tereeza. How much footage did you get?

Tereeza: Enough, we will mix with some stills, and she signed a release to use the song, she said it was her property. Colette did say a lover wrote it for her when she left. Her persona is like something out of an old movie---a very old movie. (chuckles)

Tereeza: We had a three hour drive back in traffic and I have only threads of information to write the script.
I guess---it will just have to be visual...!
Mademoiselle Colette, was quite the experience...

Doll Winter Fun!

Ad-Free Blog

Just a quick vintage post and a new doll, also! The theme for WindyCityBDollCollectors meeting for January 2020 was Frozen.
While, I didn't get to go this month, we are sharing photos of theme on the Facebook website, here. Anyone interested in Barbie can join the FB group for free and find out about our great club in Chicagoland.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

My Frozen Ice Queen, Zoe, works for Vickie at the Vintage store, models the Crystal Wedding 1995 dress and four vintage petticoats! She is actually a 1998 Cool Blue/Cool Colors Barbie with that wonderful Bob Mackie face! She wears a glittered Super Star Headband/tiara, and carries a white fur muff(unknown).

I love this dress, but for some reason when editing out some snow wrinkles---the editing picked up the dress stripes, and after three tries I gave up...! This dress has very soft iridescence to the sheer fabric stripes and the stones on the pearl encircled buttons! She is one of my favorite dolls, and has finally acquired an MTM body instead of those huge flat feet from that era.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

This gal is a new unnamed MTM baseball player or basketball, not sure, which. I'm very sloppy with my records and I have to start keeping a serious list of who is whom.
She has "Ski Fun Barbie" 1991 skis, poles, and boots. The sparkle stretch pants(Rocker maybe) I'm not sure of, nor the jacket. They are older and in great condition. Hat is from one of the red velvet dress sets from long ago, (I think one of the catalog or department store exclusives), it has a little green/red flower I hid behind under her hair! It's always such a hunt!

barbieoldnewgreenredo

When I updated my Mac I lost all my favorites/bookmarks and notes. Never thought I should have saved those. She has a nice face, I may have to leave her as is, though I don't need another blonde in my gaggle of girls.
I really need to find or make some gloves/mittens before it snows again.

Do you have trouble keeping track of Doll bodies/heads/names/dates? What's your system?
And clothes and accessories...are you religious in storage,
or a mixy-matchy gal like me?

Vintage Doll Finds Summer 2019

I may have not been able to thrift shop/garage sale---but there always is the internet for Vintage  FINDS! Please excuse the backgrounds. I needed to sit down for most of this...so major settings, weren't in the plan. LOTS OF OLD IN THIS POST---I'll try and identify where I can.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

I did bid on this 1987
source ebay pinterest

vintage patio set----in perfect condition...box was a bit roughed up, but you would be to if you were shuffled around for ...years.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

I did add the water bottles and doughnuts for some extra color...but the rest is original.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

What I really like is these aren't faded and a bit taller then many sets---large enough for Ken dolls to look comfortable! Over inch above the ground.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Another fun thing for the Kens is the paddle ball game...I found at the dollar store. I did venture in with my husband when he drove me in July.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

I'm using it in a diorama, it really works and you have to defend or hit the ball with the paddles by pulling the levers---even Ken's might be able to fake that.
barbieoldnewgreenredo

I try and pick up anything that can be used for floral arrangements. These are the perfect size and came together in a mixed bag-super cheap.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

This was a crazy mixed up goody-bag at a thrift store, except for the fruit and dishes from the patio set. Some really odd stuff. I buy mixed bags if I see 2 or 3 things in it I really want. In this case it was the toilet-which makes this a GOLD-Bag---they are so scarce, a big suitcase, electric keyboard and the pooper scooper---
I think it is probably horse related, lol.
I have a horse stall, that was stripped when I got it,  I think vegetable basket, the blue tray, might be part of that.
Love the gas tank for a grill, too.
That will come in handy.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

The square right thing is for exercise equipment, I think, we will see. The hat---is a 1993 Disney Mattel Mary Poppins hat--I think I will straighten it out and see if anyone might want it. The barbie belt I haven't found yet, but assume it's from the 90's or early 2000's. I might redo it, for a fun door prize at my Barbie Club.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

I got a few mixed orders on Ebay and one on Etsy. Different Ken clothes are hard to find reasonable. The (McHammer?) pants and some tee shirts, are all in pretty good shape, some just need a wash.

The tux suit was in pretty good shape...and black pants are always needed. The blue shirt is home-sewn-just needs the seams trimmed and the facings tacked down.

barbieoldnewgreenredo
The girls bags were really mixed. I have no idea where the jumpsuit is from...thinking maybe not Barbie, it has no lable, but is very well made and detailed. If anyone knows...please contact me.
I thought maybe Charlie's angels, but nothing came up in a search for that.
Another heavy satin pink gown(I'll redo--lame trim on it), but in very good condition...a sparkly one-two short costumes?or winter outfits, and a cute sundress, nicely made--probably is unmarked Barbie-has velcro in the back, but I love the fabric, a heavy knit with nice detail.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

This Barbie Pink Sensations dress-1987?, the jacket has melted arms-it's really disgusting. I'm going to try and remake the sleeves in white satin.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

How many glittery ruched dresses did Barbie have, I think I have a dozen or so, all different. I'm not going to waste time looking for, but it is in perfect shape. There were two cute purses in the batch, this lavender glitter one and beige one, I missed in the pic.

barbieoldnewgreenredo

Rocker jacket this is in such good condition, I'm going to call it from 2008, I've seen it paired with those pants? Not sure what went under the jacket. The beach dress is from Glitter Hair Barbie 1993..it came in three colors and three different doll versions.
I had no luck finding the skirt, and the generic tricot top, and the rocker top---actually might be kens?

barbieoldnewgreenredo

A clone peignoir set in excellent condition---except for neck straps and easy redo and easily replaced. And, one of those 1997 Flower Fun Barbie Dress...this one has an undamaged 'flower' on it.

There were a few more plain skirts, jeans, shorts, and some generic hand sewn pieces in these batches.

This is the good stuff---I easily have more than this, that needs attention: washing, mending, fasteners or all the above...still waiting to be washed and see what is salvageable.

This was my 'stuck at home' phase...I do have a bunch of furniture I bought before I hurt my knee--it was in the trunk of the car and I forgot about it...I will have to include in another post!
