Tuesday, March 17th in Northside Chicago, Jacquie is scheduled to meet with her staff. Salon Jacquie has been her dream, and now she has the virus messing up all her great plans.

Jacquie: (...this is going to be a hard on everyone.)

Jacquie: HELLO! Almost everything is done. And, I really wished this staff meeting would be going differently. First, please introduce your selves.

Hi, I'm Vera. I've worked with Jacquie for eight years. I love to do hair color and nails...!
barbieoldnewgreenredo |
I'm Cece, I specialize in hair revitalization, extensions, and processing. I've been working downtown for 8 years and am sick of the bus. It will be nice to be able to walk to work.

I'm MaryAnn. I've lived in this neighborhood all my
life. I'm really happy to be starting here at Jacquie's.
I graduated two years ago and been working
at Clipping Great, and I think haircuts are my specialty.

Jacquie: Good morning girls. This is the first time we have been able to be here altogether. Thanks for showing up looking so divine in your uniforms. The shop is ready, but I have some bad news. In the interest of public safety all unessential businesses have been asked to close.
barbieoldnewgreenredo |
I'm afraid salons are considered too close to the public, and are unessential. I know Governor Pritzker has the public's best interest at heart. But, we won't be able to be opened.

The nail desk will sadly be unused. Vera, you set this up so well, I'm sure we will have lots of repeat customers...when we have them.
barbieoldnewgreenredo |
I'm crushed, and since you haven't worked but a few hours for me, you will be unable to collect unemployment, except maybe from previous employers. Hopefully the government will be offering some assistance for everyone.

Jacquie: MaryAnn, thanks for setting up the great photos. I really love your choices.
barbieoldnewgreenredo |
Vera: Anyone want their nails done today---? Since we are already here?
barbieoldnewgreenredo |
MaryAnn: I sure could use a good manicure. I'll take you up on that.
Jacquie: And super thanks, MaryAnn, for helping me do the two coats of paint on all these chairs and polishing all the chrome.
barbieoldnewgreenredo |
MaryAnn: I loved that we could do a REDO on this old set-up...it looks fabulous!
barbieoldnewgreenredo |
Vera: Okay ladies, let's have a manicure party!
MaryAnn: I'll have to have some sparkly peach. I need to cheer up the world with my nails.
CeCe: Hmmm, so many pretty turquoises, it's hard to choose.

Jacquie: I might as well join in---Rainbow for me, every nail different! And I already love you all. Thanks for everything.
Richelle: Hi, Jacquie. The shop looks great, but, so sorry to hear you won't open. I saw your girls leave. They all looked so sharp in those uniforms.
Jacquie: Thanks, Richelle. It was hard to tell them there would be no benefits since we won't qualify. Life will go on, though. Of course hair is important, but so is everyone's health. We will survive and I believe later thrive.
(Hopefully, Jacquie's and her gals' stories will continue.)

Bet your dolls never expected anything like this!!! Well, honestly, me either. Sounds like Philly is going to start locking down on Monday. My work keeps the trucks rolling so unfortunately we still need to go in. I can't wait for this to get under control! Take care:@)
ReplyDeleteWow, Lynn, thank goodness for trucking---I hope you can stay safe. My poor mailman has 4 kids...and all the stuff he has to touch...seriously?? It is surreal. Take care, yourself.
DeletePrincess T is upset that Salons are Closed since all of a sudden she wants her Hip length Hair lobbed off! I'm glad she'll have to wait a Month or Two to settle in her Mind if she really wants to have such a drastic change? Last time she cut all her long Hair off she regret it. All Service Related Industries where they cannot possibly stay 6 feet away from Clients are going to struggle during this Pandemic. Jacquie's Salon and many others let us Hope can weather the storm?
ReplyDeleteHi, Dawn. I'm going to address, because she is a new business, unemployment and state relief will not be an option. She will be fortunate to have a kind land lord Barbara Millicent Roberts (original Barbie) who will cut her some slack. However, depending on how long this goes on---anyways...my stories will always be about problem solving (not drama) and real life at a G level...so safe for kids, but hopefully interesting enough for adults.
